Second largest component of RNA polymerase II which synthesizes mRNA precursors and many functional non-coding RNAs. Proposed to contribute to the polymerase catalytic activity and forms the polymerase active center together with the largest subunit. Pol II is the central component of the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. It is composed of mobile elements that move relative to each other. RPB2 is part of the core element with the central large cleft, the clamp element that moves to open and close the cleft and the jaws that are thought to grab the incoming DNA template (By similarity). {ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9852112}. |RNA pol Rpb2 5| |RNA pol Rpb2 2| |RNA pol Rpb2 3| |RNA pol Rpb2 1| |RNA pol Rpb2 6| |RNA pol Rpb2 4| |RNA pol Rpb2 7| |ribonucleoside binding| |RNA polymerase II activity| |RNA polymerase II, core complex| |DNA-directed 5-3 RNA polymerase activity| |7-methylguanosine mRNA capping| |RNA capping| |7-methylguanosine RNA capping| |positive regulation of viral transcription| |regulation of viral transcription| |somatic stem cell population maintenance| |snRNA transcription by RNA polymerase II| |snRNA transcription| |transcription-coupled nucleotide-excision repair| |transcription elongation from RNA polymerase II promoter| |fibroblast growth factor receptor signaling pathway| |regulation of gene silencing by miRNA| |regulation of posttranscriptional gene silencing| |regulation of gene silencing by RNA| |DNA-templated transcription, elongation| |ncRNA transcription| |positive regulation of viral process| |cellular response to fibroblast growth factor stimulus| |nuclear chromosome, telomeric region| |nucleotide-excision repair| |response to fibroblast growth factor| |regulation of gene silencing| |stem cell population maintenance| |maintenance of cell number| |transcription initiation from RNA polymerase II promoter| |regulation of viral process| |DNA-templated transcription, initiation| |regulation of symbiosis, encompassing mutualism through parasitism| |RNA splicing, via transesterification reactions with bulged adenosine as nucleophile| |mRNA splicing, via spliceosome| |RNA splicing, via transesterification reactions| |chromatin binding| |RNA splicing| |mRNA processing| |transcription by RNA polymerase II| |cellular response to growth factor stimulus| |DNA repair| |positive regulation of multi-organism process| |transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase signaling pathway| |response to growth factor| |transcription, DNA-templated| |nucleic acid-templated transcription| |RNA biosynthetic process| |mRNA metabolic process| |enzyme linked receptor protein signaling pathway| |DNA metabolic process| |regulation of multi-organism process| |cellular response to DNA damage stimulus| |RNA processing| |nucleobase-containing compound biosynthetic process| |heterocycle biosynthetic process| |aromatic compound biosynthetic process| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |RNA binding| |DNA binding| |response to endogenous stimulus| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |RNA metabolic process| |cellular response to stress| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |membrane| |gene expression| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Rotenone 20μM R00 exp34|-2.01| |BH1 1μM R04 exp169|1.82| |Rifampicin 10μM R00 exp32|1.82| |IL-3 9ng/ml R08 exp493|1.89| |A-366 10μM R03 exp115|1.97| |Bortezomib 0.005μM R00 exp6|2.05| |FTY720 3μM R08 exp483|2.39| ^Gene^Correlation^ |POLR2J3|0.416| |PRIM1|0.407| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 726/726 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|1/1| |909776.0|1/1| |bile duct|28/28| |blood|28/28| |bone|25/25| |breast|33/33| |central nervous system|56/56| |cervix|4/4| |colorectal|17/17| |esophagus|13/13| |fibroblast|1/1| |gastric|15/15| |kidney|21/21| |liver|20/20| |lung|75/75| |lymphocyte|14/14| |ovary|26/26| |pancreas|24/24| |peripheral nervous system|16/16| |plasma cell|15/15| |prostate|1/1| |skin|24/24| |soft tissue|7/7| |thyroid|2/2| |upper aerodigestive|22/22| |urinary tract|29/29| |uterus|5/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 41 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 8.1
