The protein contains four ankyrin repeats and an SH3 domain involved in protein-protein interactions. ASPP proteins are required for the induction of apoptosis by p53-family proteins. They promote DNA binding and transactivation of p53-family proteins on the promoters of proapoptotic genes. Expression of this gene is regulated by the E2F transcription factor. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Regulator that plays a central role in regulation of apoptosis via its interaction with p53/TP53. Regulates TP53 by enhancing the DNA binding and transactivation function of TP53 on the promoters of proapoptotic genes in vivo. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11684014}. |SH3 2| |Ank| |Ank 2| |SH3 1| |regulation of protein insertion into mitochondrial membrane involved in apoptotic signaling pathway| |positive regulation of protein insertion into mitochondrial membrane involved in apoptotic signaling pathway| |positive regulation of mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization involved in apoptotic signaling pathway| |regulation of mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization involved in apoptotic signaling pathway| |intrinsic apoptotic signaling pathway by p53 class mediator| |positive regulation of establishment of protein localization to mitochondrion| |p53 binding| |regulation of mitochondrial membrane permeability| |regulation of establishment of protein localization to mitochondrion| |regulation of membrane permeability| |positive regulation of neuron death| |positive regulation of mitochondrion organization| |signal transduction by p53 class mediator| |positive regulation of protein localization to membrane| |mitochondrial membrane organization| |intrinsic apoptotic signaling pathway| |positive regulation of apoptotic signaling pathway| |regulation of mitochondrion organization| |regulation of signal transduction by p53 class mediator| |regulation of protein localization to membrane| |mitochondrial transport| |apoptotic signaling pathway| |regulation of neuron death| |positive regulation of cellular protein localization| |transcription factor binding| |regulation of apoptotic signaling pathway| |mitochondrion organization| |positive regulation of establishment of protein localization| |regulation of cellular protein localization| |negative regulation of cell cycle| |positive regulation of organelle organization| |positive regulation of apoptotic process| |positive regulation of programmed cell death| |perinuclear region of cytoplasm| |positive regulation of cell death| |regulation of establishment of protein localization| |membrane organization| |regulation of cellular localization| |apoptotic process| |positive regulation of transport| |regulation of protein localization| |programmed cell death| |cell death| |regulation of cell cycle| |positive regulation of cellular component organization| |mitochondrion| |regulation of organelle organization| |regulation of apoptotic process| |regulation of programmed cell death| |positive regulation of signal transduction| |regulation of cell death| |intracellular signal transduction| |positive regulation of cell communication| |positive regulation of signaling| |regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |regulation of transport| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp503|Mitomycin-C 0.06μM R08 exp503]]|1.81| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
