The protein functions as a transcription co-activator, enhancing the DNA-binding activity of serum response factor, a protein required for the induction of genes by growth and differentiation factors. The protein regulates muscle creatine kinase, indicating a role in the establishment of diverse mesodermal muscle types. Alternative splicing yields two isoforms that differ in abundance and expression patterns. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Acts as a transcriptional regulator of muscle creatine kinase (MCK) and so has a role in the establishment of diverse mesodermal muscle types. The protein binds to an A/T-rich element in the muscle creatine enhancer (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}. |Homeobox| |OAR| |neuron fate determination| |HMG box domain binding| |middle ear morphogenesis| |neuronal stem cell population maintenance| |positive regulation of mesenchymal cell proliferation| |regulation of neuron projection regeneration| |positive regulation of smoothened signaling pathway| |regulation of mesenchymal cell proliferation| |cell fate determination| |embryonic cranial skeleton morphogenesis| |artery morphogenesis| |neuron fate commitment| |cranial skeletal system development| |regulation of smoothened signaling pathway| |artery development| |roof of mouth development| |embryonic skeletal system morphogenesis| |inner ear morphogenesis| |ear morphogenesis| |embryonic limb morphogenesis| |embryonic appendage morphogenesis| |embryonic skeletal system development| |stem cell population maintenance| |maintenance of cell number| |limb morphogenesis| |appendage morphogenesis| |cartilage development| |appendage development| |limb development| |inner ear development| |ear development| |connective tissue development| |skeletal system morphogenesis| |DNA-binding transcription repressor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |cell fate commitment| |sensory organ morphogenesis| |transcription coactivator activity| |embryonic organ morphogenesis| |blood vessel morphogenesis| |embryonic organ development| |blood vessel development| |skeletal system development| |regulation of neuron projection development| |RNA polymerase II proximal promoter sequence-specific DNA binding| |vasculature development| |cardiovascular system development| |sensory organ development| |embryonic morphogenesis| |chordate embryonic development| |embryo development ending in birth or egg hatching| |tube morphogenesis| |regulation of neuron differentiation| |regulation of plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |regulation of cell projection organization| |regulation of cellular response to stress| |regulation of neurogenesis| |tube development| |negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |circulatory system development| |positive regulation of cell population proliferation| |regulation of nervous system development| |regulation of cell development| |animal organ morphogenesis| |embryo development| |neuron differentiation| |negative regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |negative regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |negative regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of RNA metabolic process| |negative regulation of cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |negative regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |regulation of response to stress| |negative regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |generation of neurons| |positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |negative regulation of biosynthetic process| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |neurogenesis| |positive regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |positive regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of signal transduction| |negative regulation of gene expression| |positive regulation of RNA metabolic process| |tissue development| |regulation of cell differentiation| |positive regulation of cell communication| |positive regulation of signaling| |positive regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |positive regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of gene expression| |positive regulation of biosynthetic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Talazoparib 0.006μM R06 exp299|-1.78| |Etoposide 0.3μM R05 exp199|-1.74| |Torin1 0.08μM R02 exp82|-1.73| |BH1 1μM R04 exp169|1.88| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
