PTPs are known to be signaling molecules that regulate a variety of cellular processes including cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. This PTP contains an extracellular region, a single transmembrane segment and two tandem intracytoplasmic catalytic domains, and thus represents a receptor-type PTP. The extracellular region of this protein is composed of three Ig-like and eight fibronectin type III-like domains. Studies of the similar genes in chicken and fly suggest the role of this PTP is in promoting neurite growth, and regulating neurons axon guidance. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been reported. A related pseudogene has been identified on chromosome 5. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2010]. * **UniProt Summary**: Can bidirectionally induce pre- and post-synaptic differentiation of neurons by mediating interaction with IL1RAP and IL1RAPL1 trans-synaptically. Involved in pre-synaptic differentiation through interaction with SLITRK2. {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q64487}. |Y phosphatase| |fn3| |I-set| |transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase signaling pathway| |trans-synaptic signaling by trans-synaptic complex| |presynaptic membrane assembly| |regulation of postsynaptic density assembly| |presynaptic membrane organization| |regulation of postsynapse assembly| |regulation of postsynaptic specialization assembly| |regulation of excitatory synapse assembly| |regulation of postsynaptic density organization| |transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine phosphatase activity| |presynapse assembly| |presynapse organization| |synaptic membrane adhesion| |regulation of presynapse assembly| |regulation of presynapse organization| |membrane assembly| |positive regulation of dendrite morphogenesis| |membrane biogenesis| |heterophilic cell-cell adhesion via plasma membrane cell adhesion molecules| |cell adhesion molecule binding| |positive regulation of synapse assembly| |positive regulation of dendrite development| |regulation of dendrite morphogenesis| |synapse assembly| |regulation of postsynapse organization| |protein tyrosine phosphatase activity| |peptidyl-tyrosine dephosphorylation| |regulation of synapse assembly| |regulation of dendrite development| |positive regulation of cell morphogenesis involved in differentiation| |protein dephosphorylation| |regulation of synapse organization| |regulation of organelle assembly| |regulation of synapse structure or activity| |cell-cell adhesion via plasma-membrane adhesion molecules| |synapse organization| |positive regulation of neuron projection development| |regulation of cell morphogenesis involved in differentiation| |dephosphorylation| |signaling receptor binding| |glutamatergic synapse| |positive regulation of neuron differentiation| |positive regulation of cell projection organization| |trans-synaptic signaling| |synaptic signaling| |positive regulation of neurogenesis| |regulation of cell morphogenesis| |regulation of neuron projection development| |cell-cell adhesion| |positive regulation of cellular component biogenesis| |positive regulation of nervous system development| |positive regulation of cell development| |regulation of neuron differentiation| |regulation of plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |regulation of cell projection organization| |enzyme linked receptor protein signaling pathway| |regulation of neurogenesis| |membrane organization| |regulation of nervous system development| |cell adhesion| |regulation of cell development| |biological adhesion| |regulation of cellular component biogenesis| |positive regulation of cell differentiation| |neuron differentiation| |regulation of anatomical structure morphogenesis| |cell-cell signaling| |positive regulation of cellular component organization| |regulation of organelle organization| |positive regulation of developmental process| |integral component of plasma membrane| |generation of neurons| |neurogenesis| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| |regulation of cell differentiation| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Ribavirin 10μM R01 exp52|-1.93| |Vinorelbine 0.001μM R05 exp249|-1.71| |Aphidicolin 0.04μM R06 exp263|2.2| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
