GTPases of the RAB family bind to various effectors to regulate the targeting and fusion of transport carriers to acceptor compartments. This protein is located at the Golgi apparatus, which regulates trafficking in both a retrograde (from early endosomes and Golgi to the endoplasmic reticulum) and an anterograde (from the Golgi to the plasma membrane) directions. Myosin II is an effector of this protein in these processes. This protein is also involved in assembly of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) by interacting with the cellular protein Bicaudal D1, which interacts with the HCMV virion tegument protein, pp150. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]. * **UniProt Summary**: Protein transport. Regulator of membrane traffic from the Golgi apparatus towards the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Has a low GTPase activity. Involved in COPI-independent retrograde transport from the Golgi to the ER (PubMed:25962623). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:25962623}. |Arf| |Miro| |GTP EFTU| |SRPRB| |Ras| |endosome to plasma membrane transport vesicle| |peptidyl-cysteine methylation| |minus-end-directed organelle transport along microtubule| |early endosome to Golgi transport| |myosin V binding| |protein localization to Golgi apparatus| |intra-Golgi vesicle-mediated transport| |peptidyl-cysteine modification| |Rab protein signal transduction| |organelle transport along microtubule| |retrograde vesicle-mediated transport, Golgi to endoplasmic reticulum| |retrograde transport, endosome to Golgi| |trans-Golgi network membrane| |secretory granule membrane| |protein methylation| |protein alkylation| |cytosolic transport| |transport along microtubule| |trans-Golgi network| |cytoskeleton-dependent intracellular transport| |microtubule-based transport| |antigen processing and presentation| |endosomal transport| |protein domain specific binding| |Ras protein signal transduction| |macromolecule methylation| |cytoplasmic vesicle| |microtubule-based movement| |methylation| |small GTPase mediated signal transduction| |GTPase activity| |establishment of organelle localization| |Golgi vesicle transport| |GTP binding| |neutrophil degranulation| |neutrophil activation involved in immune response| |neutrophil mediated immunity| |neutrophil activation| |granulocyte activation| |leukocyte degranulation| |myeloid leukocyte mediated immunity| |myeloid cell activation involved in immune response| |organelle localization| |myeloid leukocyte activation| |Golgi membrane| |leukocyte activation involved in immune response| |cell activation involved in immune response| |microtubule-based process| |viral process| |regulated exocytosis| |protein localization to organelle| |leukocyte mediated immunity| |symbiotic process| |exocytosis| |interspecies interaction between organisms| |peptidyl-amino acid modification| |leukocyte activation| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |Golgi apparatus| |intracellular protein transport| |secretion by cell| |export from cell| |cell activation| |immune effector process| |secretion| |protein transport| |intracellular transport| |peptide transport| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |amide transport| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |establishment of protein localization| |intracellular signal transduction| |establishment of localization in cell| |nitrogen compound transport| |immune response| |vesicle-mediated transport| |membrane| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp226|Cerivastatin 0.15μM R05 exp226]]|-2.42| |[[:results:exp282|Fluvastatin 2.2μM R06 exp282]]|-1.92| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
