Specifically binds to scaffold/matrix attachment region DNA. Also binds single- stranded RNA. Enhances RNA unwinding activity of DDX39A. May participate in important transcriptional or translational control of cell growth, metabolism and carcinogenesis. Component of the TREX complex which is thought to couple mRNA transcription, processing and nuclear export, and specifically associates with spliced mRNA and not with unspliced pre-mRNA. TREX is recruited to spliced mRNAs by a transcription-independent mechanism, binds to mRNA upstream of the exon-junction complex (EJC) and is recruited in a splicing- and cap-dependent manner to a region near the 5' end of the mRNA where it functions in mRNA export to the cytoplasm via the TAP/NFX1 pathway. The TREX complex is essential for the export of Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) intronless mRNAs and infectious virus production. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:15338056, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17196963, ECO:0000269|PubMed:20844015}. |SAP| |RS domain binding| |transcription export complex| |cytoplasmic ribonucleoprotein granule| |mRNA 3-end processing| |mRNA-containing ribonucleoprotein complex export from nucleus| |mRNA export from nucleus| |ribonucleoprotein complex export from nucleus| |ribonucleoprotein complex localization| |RNA export from nucleus| |RNA 3-end processing| |protein export from nucleus| |mRNA transport| |nuclear export| |protein C-terminus binding| |RNA transport| |nucleic acid transport| |establishment of RNA localization| |RNA localization| |nucleobase-containing compound transport| |DNA-binding transcription repressor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |protein-containing complex localization| |nucleocytoplasmic transport| |nuclear transport| |regulation of translation| |nuclear speck| |regulation of cellular amide metabolic process| |mRNA processing| |RNA polymerase II proximal promoter sequence-specific DNA binding| |posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression| |mRNA metabolic process| |negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |RNA processing| |intracellular protein transport| |negative regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |negative regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |negative regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of RNA metabolic process| |negative regulation of cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |RNA binding| |negative regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |negative regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |protein transport| |negative regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |intracellular transport| |peptide transport| |negative regulation of biosynthetic process| |amide transport| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |establishment of protein localization| |RNA metabolic process| |negative regulation of gene expression| |establishment of localization in cell| |nitrogen compound transport| |gene expression| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Monensin 0.3μM R08 exp507|1.71| |Deferoxamine 11μM R07 exp350|1.8| |Cerivastatin 0.15μM R05 exp226|1.81| |Nutlin-3A 1.6μM R06 exp294|1.82| |Oligomycin-A 2μM R00 exp25|2.24| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
