The encoded protein contains a C-type lectin-like domain, a calcium-binding epidermal growth factor-like domain, and two short complement-like repeats. The gene product is required for binding and subsequent rolling of leucocytes on endothelial cells, facilitating their migration into secondary lymphoid organs and inflammation sites. Single-nucleotide polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with various diseases including immunoglobulin A nephropathy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]. * **UniProt Summary**: Calcium-dependent lectin that mediates cell adhesion by binding to glycoproteins on neighboring cells (PubMed:12403782, PubMed:28489325, PubMed:28011641). Mediates the adherence of lymphocytes to endothelial cells of high endothelial venules in peripheral lymph nodes. Promotes initial tethering and rolling of leukocytes in endothelia (PubMed:12403782, PubMed:28011641). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12403782, ECO:0000269|PubMed:28011641, ECO:0000305|PubMed:28489325}. |Sushi| |Lectin C| |glycosphingolipid binding| |oligosaccharide binding| |leukocyte tethering or rolling| |leukocyte adhesion to vascular endothelial cell| |cellular extravasation| |calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion via plasma membrane cell adhesion molecules| |leukocyte cell-cell adhesion| |secretory granule membrane| |protease binding| |heparin binding| |carbohydrate binding| |cell-cell adhesion via plasma-membrane adhesion molecules| |leukocyte migration| |neutrophil degranulation| |neutrophil activation involved in immune response| |neutrophil mediated immunity| |neutrophil activation| |granulocyte activation| |cell-cell adhesion| |leukocyte degranulation| |myeloid leukocyte mediated immunity| |myeloid cell activation involved in immune response| |myeloid leukocyte activation| |leukocyte activation involved in immune response| |cell activation involved in immune response| |regulated exocytosis| |calcium ion binding| |leukocyte mediated immunity| |exocytosis| |leukocyte activation| |cell adhesion| |biological adhesion| |cell migration| |secretion by cell| |export from cell| |cell activation| |cell motility| |localization of cell| |immune effector process| |secretion| |regulation of immune response| |locomotion| |integral component of plasma membrane| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |regulation of immune system process| |immune response| |vesicle-mediated transport| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp30|Rapamycin 10μM R00 exp30]]|-1.71| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
