This protein may be involved in regulating cell shape in certain tissues. A similar protein in mice is required for proper neurulation. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2011]. * **UniProt Summary**: Controls cell shape changes in the neuroepithelium during neural tube closure. Induces apical constriction in epithelial cells by promoting the apical accumulation of F-actin and myosin II, and probably by bundling stress fibers. Induces apicobasal cell elongation by redistributing gamma-tubulin and directing the assembly of robust apicobasal microtubule arrays (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}. |ASD1| |ASD2| |PDZ| |apical protein localization| |cellular pigment accumulation| |pigment accumulation| |apical junction complex| |cellular pigmentation| |cortical actin cytoskeleton| |adherens junction| |neural tube closure| |pigmentation| |tube closure| |primary neural tube formation| |neural tube formation| |embryonic epithelial tube formation| |epithelial tube formation| |morphogenesis of embryonic epithelium| |tube formation| |regulation of cell shape| |neural tube development| |epithelial cell development| |actin filament binding| |actin filament organization| |epithelial tube morphogenesis| |microtubule| |apical plasma membrane| |cytoskeleton| |morphogenesis of an epithelium| |pattern specification process| |supramolecular fiber organization| |regulation of cell morphogenesis| |actin cytoskeleton organization| |tissue morphogenesis| |embryonic morphogenesis| |actin filament-based process| |chordate embryonic development| |embryo development ending in birth or egg hatching| |tube morphogenesis| |epithelial cell differentiation| |cell morphogenesis| |cellular component morphogenesis| |tube development| |anatomical structure formation involved in morphogenesis| |embryo development| |regulation of anatomical structure morphogenesis| |cytoskeleton organization| |epithelium development| |cell development| |tissue development| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp504|MK2206 4μM R08 exp504]]|1.99| |[[:results:exp460|BML-284 0.09μM R08 exp460]]|2.03| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
