Transports preferentially uracil, thymine, and cytosine (deoxy)nucleoside di- and triphosphates by an antiport mechanism (PubMed:25320081). Also transports guanine but not adenine (deoxy)nucleotides (PubMed:25320081). Is inhibited strongly by pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, 4,7-diphenyl-1,10- phenanthroline, tannic acid, and mercurials (mercury dichloride, mersalyl acid, p-hydroxymercuribenzoate) (PubMed:25320081). Participates in mitochondrial genome maintenance, regulation of mitochondrial membrane potential and mitochondrial respiration (PubMed:20453889). Upon INS or IGF1 stimulation regulates cell growth and proliferation by controlling mitochondrial DNA replication and transcription, the ratio of mitochondria-to nuclear-encoded components of the electron transport chain resulting in control of mitochondrial ROS production (PubMed:20453889, PubMed:17596519). Participates in dendritic cell endocytosis and may associate with mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation (PubMed:14715278). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:14715278, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17596519, ECO:0000269|PubMed:20453889, ECO:0000269|PubMed:25320081}. |Mito carr| |mitochondria-nucleus signaling pathway| |pyrimidine nucleotide transport| |pyrimidine nucleotide import into mitochondrion| |pyrimidine nucleotide transmembrane transporter activity| |nucleotide transmembrane transport| |respiratory chain complex III assembly| |cellular response to insulin-like growth factor stimulus| |mitochondrial respiratory chain complex III assembly| |pyrimidine-containing compound transmembrane transport| |mitochondrial transcription| |mitochondrial genome maintenance| |nucleotide transport| |regulation of oxidative phosphorylation| |cytochrome complex assembly| |mitochondrial RNA metabolic process| |regulation of mitochondrial membrane potential| |regulation of reactive oxygen species biosynthetic process| |mitochondrial transmembrane transport| |mitochondrial respiratory chain complex assembly| |mitochondrial membrane| |regulation of cell cycle arrest| |regulation of ATP metabolic process| |organophosphate ester transport| |mitochondrial gene expression| |regulation of generation of precursor metabolites and energy| |cellular response to insulin stimulus| |positive regulation of cell growth| |regulation of reactive oxygen species metabolic process| |mitochondrial transport| |response to insulin| |nucleobase-containing compound transport| |positive regulation of growth| |cellular response to peptide hormone stimulus| |cellular response to peptide| |response to peptide hormone| |mitochondrial inner membrane| |regulation of cell growth| |regulation of membrane potential| |mitochondrion organization| |response to peptide| |cellular response to organonitrogen compound| |cellular response to hormone stimulus| |transcription, DNA-templated| |nucleic acid-templated transcription| |RNA biosynthetic process| |cellular response to nitrogen compound| |regulation of growth| |regulation of cell cycle process| |cellular protein-containing complex assembly| |response to hormone| |positive regulation of cell population proliferation| |response to organonitrogen compound| |cellular response to oxygen-containing compound| |response to nitrogen compound| |nucleobase-containing compound biosynthetic process| |heterocycle biosynthetic process| |aromatic compound biosynthetic process| |regulation of cell cycle| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |transmembrane transport| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |response to endogenous stimulus| |response to oxygen-containing compound| |protein-containing complex assembly| |regulation of phosphorylation| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |RNA metabolic process| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |nitrogen compound transport| |protein-containing complex subunit organization| |gene expression| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Bortezomib 0.05μM R00 exp7|-2.34| |Citral 50μM R06 exp274|-2.25| |Vemurafenib 6.6μM R02 exp89|-1.86| |Etoposide 10μM R00 exp20|-1.82| |MLN-4924 2μM R00 exp22|-1.75| |CB-839 10μM R05 exp224|-1.71| |Phenformin 20μM R05 exp212|-1.71| |CCCP 1μM R00 exp11|2.58| |Nifuroxazide 5μM R03 exp102|3.14| |Doxycycline 10μM R00 exp18|4.39| ^Gene^Correlation^ |COX7A2L|0.448| |SLC25A36|0.446| |MRS2|0.435| |POLR2J3|0.431| |NME6|0.425| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 19080 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 5.23
