The protein inhibits HGF activator which prevents the formation of active hepatocyte growth factor. This gene is a putative tumor suppressor, and mutations in this gene result in congenital sodium diarrhea. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]. * **UniProt Summary**: Inhibitor of HGF activator. Also inhibits plasmin, plasma and tissue kallikrein, and factor XIa. |Kunitz BPTI| |epithelial cell morphogenesis involved in placental branching| |epithelial cell differentiation involved in embryonic placenta development| |branching involved in labyrinthine layer morphogenesis| |labyrinthine layer morphogenesis| |basement membrane organization| |negative regulation of neural precursor cell proliferation| |cell differentiation involved in embryonic placenta development| |embryonic placenta morphogenesis| |epithelial cell morphogenesis| |endopeptidase inhibitor activity| |labyrinthine layer development| |embryonic placenta development| |regulation of neural precursor cell proliferation| |neural tube closure| |tube closure| |serine-type endopeptidase inhibitor activity| |primary neural tube formation| |response to BMP| |cellular response to BMP stimulus| |neural tube formation| |embryonic epithelial tube formation| |epithelial tube formation| |morphogenesis of embryonic epithelium| |tube formation| |placenta development| |morphogenesis of a branching epithelium| |neural tube development| |morphogenesis of a branching structure| |negative regulation of cell-cell adhesion| |epithelial cell development| |establishment or maintenance of cell polarity| |negative regulation of endopeptidase activity| |negative regulation of peptidase activity| |negative regulation of cell adhesion| |negative regulation of cell motility| |epithelial tube morphogenesis| |negative regulation of cellular component movement| |negative regulation of locomotion| |extracellular matrix organization| |negative regulation of proteolysis| |in utero embryonic development| |extracellular structure organization| |regulation of cell-cell adhesion| |regulation of endopeptidase activity| |reproductive structure development| |reproductive system development| |morphogenesis of an epithelium| |embryonic organ development| |regulation of peptidase activity| |negative regulation of hydrolase activity| |cellular response to growth factor stimulus| |response to growth factor| |cell morphogenesis involved in differentiation| |tissue morphogenesis| |embryonic morphogenesis| |chordate embryonic development| |embryo development ending in birth or egg hatching| |tube morphogenesis| |developmental process involved in reproduction| |negative regulation of cell population proliferation| |epithelial cell differentiation| |regulation of cell adhesion| |cell morphogenesis| |regulation of proteolysis| |negative regulation of catalytic activity| |cellular component morphogenesis| |tube development| |anatomical structure formation involved in morphogenesis| |regulation of cell motility| |embryo development| |regulation of locomotion| |regulation of cellular component movement| |negative regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |negative regulation of protein metabolic process| |epithelium development| |negative regulation of molecular function| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |regulation of hydrolase activity| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |response to endogenous stimulus| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |cell development| |tissue development| |extracellular region| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
