These cytosolic enzymes are different in their tissue distributions and substrate specificities. The gene structure (number and length of exons) is similar among family members. This gene encodes one of two phenol sulfotransferases with thermostable enzyme activity. Two alternatively spliced variants that encode the same protein have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Sulfotransferase that utilizes 3'-phospho-5'-adenylyl sulfate (PAPS) as sulfonate donor to catalyze the sulfate conjugation of catecholamines, phenolic drugs and neurotransmitters. Is also responsible for the sulfonation and activation of minoxidil. Mediates the metabolic activation of carcinogenic N-hydroxyarylamines to DNA binding products and could so participate as modulating factor of cancer risk. |Sulfotransfer 1| |flavonol 3-sulfotransferase activity| |aryl sulfotransferase activity| |ethanol catabolic process| |primary alcohol catabolic process| |sulfation| |ethanol metabolic process| |amine biosynthetic process| |3-phosphoadenosine 5-phosphosulfate metabolic process| |purine ribonucleoside bisphosphate metabolic process| |sulfotransferase activity| |catecholamine metabolic process| |catechol-containing compound metabolic process| |antibiotic catabolic process| |alcohol catabolic process| |amine metabolic process| |organic hydroxy compound catabolic process| |primary alcohol metabolic process| |phenol-containing compound metabolic process| |antibiotic metabolic process| |xenobiotic metabolic process| |ribonucleoside bisphosphate metabolic process| |nucleoside bisphosphate metabolic process| |purine nucleoside bisphosphate metabolic process| |drug catabolic process| |cellular response to xenobiotic stimulus| |steroid metabolic process| |response to xenobiotic stimulus| |purine ribonucleotide metabolic process| |alcohol metabolic process| |ribonucleotide metabolic process| |purine nucleotide metabolic process| |ribose phosphate metabolic process| |sulfur compound metabolic process| |purine-containing compound metabolic process| |small molecule catabolic process| |nucleotide metabolic process| |nucleoside phosphate metabolic process| |organic hydroxy compound metabolic process| |drug metabolic process| |nucleobase-containing small molecule metabolic process| |organophosphate metabolic process| |oxoacid metabolic process| |organic acid metabolic process| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |lipid metabolic process| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |small molecule metabolic process| |organic substance catabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found. ^Gene^Correlation^ |[[:human genes:h:hgc6.3|HGC6.3]]|0.489| Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **Essentiality Rank**: 16471 * **Expression level (log2 read counts)**: 1.3 {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}}
