Synaptotagmins share a common domain structure that includes a transmembrane domain and a cytoplasmic region composed of 2 C2 domains, and are involved in calcium-dependent exocytosis of synaptic vesicles. This protein has been shown to be a key component of the secretory machinery involved in acrosomal exocytosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]. * **UniProt Summary**: May be involved in Ca(2+)-dependent exocytosis of secretory vesicles through Ca(2+) and phospholipid binding to the C2 domain or may serve as Ca(2+) sensors in the process of vesicular trafficking and exocytosis. May mediate Ca(2+)- regulation of exocytosis in acrosomal reaction in sperm (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q9R0N8}. |C2| |neuronal dense core vesicle exocytosis| |presynaptic dense core vesicle exocytosis| |integral component of synaptic membrane| |acrosomal vesicle exocytosis| |dense core granule exocytosis| |perinuclear endoplasmic reticulum| |calcium ion-regulated exocytosis of neurotransmitter| |acrosome reaction| |exocytic vesicle| |clathrin binding| |regulation of dopamine secretion| |calcium-ion regulated exocytosis| |regulation of calcium ion-dependent exocytosis| |syntaxin binding| |calcium-dependent phospholipid binding| |phosphatidylserine binding| |calcium-dependent protein binding| |regulation of catecholamine secretion| |synaptic vesicle exocytosis| |extrinsic component of membrane| |SNARE binding| |synaptic vesicle membrane| |cellular response to calcium ion| |regulation of amine transport| |regulation of response to drug| |neurotransmitter secretion| |signal release from synapse| |synaptic vesicle cycle| |vesicle-mediated transport in synapse| |single fertilization| |response to calcium ion| |regulation of regulated secretory pathway| |signal release| |fertilization| |neurotransmitter transport| |cellular response to metal ion| |cellular response to inorganic substance| |regulation of exocytosis| |glutamatergic synapse| |regulation of neurotransmitter levels| |response to metal ion| |chemical synaptic transmission| |anterograde trans-synaptic signaling| |trans-synaptic signaling| |synaptic signaling| |response to inorganic substance| |cell junction| |regulation of vesicle-mediated transport| |regulation of ion transport| |regulated exocytosis| |calcium ion binding| |regulation of secretion by cell| |exocytosis| |regulation of secretion| |sexual reproduction| |protein homodimerization activity| |multi-organism reproductive process| |secretion by cell| |export from cell| |cell-cell signaling| |secretion| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |establishment of localization in cell| |regulation of transport| |vesicle-mediated transport| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
