This pathway can also maintain glutathione at a reduced state and thus protect sulfhydryl groups and cellular integrity from oxygen radicals. The functional gene of transaldolase 1 is located on chromosome 11 and a pseudogene is identified on chromosome 1 but there are conflicting map locations. The second and third exon of this gene were developed by insertion of a retrotransposable element. This gene is thought to be involved in multiple sclerosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Transaldolase is important for the balance of metabolites in the pentose-phosphate pathway. |Transaldolase| |sedoheptulose-7-phosphate:D-glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate glyceronetransferase activity| |xylulose biosynthetic process| |xylulose metabolic process| |pentose biosynthetic process| |pentose-phosphate shunt, non-oxidative branch| |glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate metabolic process| |fructose 6-phosphate metabolic process| |pentose-phosphate shunt| |monosaccharide binding| |NADPH regeneration| |pentose metabolic process| |glucose 6-phosphate metabolic process| |NADP metabolic process| |interleukin-12-mediated signaling pathway| |cellular response to interleukin-12| |response to interleukin-12| |monosaccharide biosynthetic process| |cellular aldehyde metabolic process| |carbohydrate biosynthetic process| |monosaccharide metabolic process| |generation of precursor metabolites and energy| |carbohydrate metabolic process| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |cytokine-mediated signaling pathway| |organophosphate metabolic process| |oxidation-reduction process| |cellular response to cytokine stimulus| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |response to cytokine| |small molecule metabolic process| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
