This binding results in the activation of protein C, which degrades clotting factors Va and VIIIa and reduces the amount of thrombin generated. Mutations in this gene are a cause of thromboembolic disease, also known as inherited thrombophilia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Thrombomodulin is a specific endothelial cell receptor that forms a 1:1 stoichiometric complex with thrombin. This complex is responsible for the conversion of protein C to the activated protein C (protein Ca). Once evolved, protein Ca scissions the activated cofactors of the coagulation mechanism, factor Va and factor VIIIa, and thereby reduces the amount of thrombin generated. |Tme5 EGF like| |cEGF| |EGF CA| |negative regulation of fibrinolysis| |regulation of fibrinolysis| |apicolateral plasma membrane| |negative regulation of platelet activation| |positive regulation of hemostasis| |vacuolar membrane| |positive regulation of blood coagulation| |positive regulation of coagulation| |response to X-ray| |regulation of platelet activation| |negative regulation of blood coagulation| |negative regulation of hemostasis| |negative regulation of coagulation| |positive regulation of wound healing| |positive regulation of response to wounding| |negative regulation of wound healing| |regulation of blood coagulation| |regulation of hemostasis| |regulation of coagulation| |negative regulation of response to wounding| |response to cAMP| |response to organophosphorus| |transmembrane signaling receptor activity| |regulation of wound healing| |response to ionizing radiation| |response to purine-containing compound| |regulation of response to wounding| |female pregnancy| |negative regulation of cell activation| |signaling receptor activity| |multi-multicellular organism process| |blood coagulation| |coagulation| |hemostasis| |response to lipopolysaccharide| |response to molecule of bacterial origin| |negative regulation of response to external stimulus| |leukocyte migration| |response to radiation| |wound healing| |regulation of body fluid levels| |response to wounding| |positive regulation of response to external stimulus| |cell surface| |regulation of cell activation| |response to bacterium| |calcium ion binding| |response to lipid| |response to organic cyclic compound| |cell migration| |multi-organism reproductive process| |response to organonitrogen compound| |localization of cell| |cell motility| |response to nitrogen compound| |regulation of response to external stimulus| |response to abiotic stimulus| |negative regulation of multicellular organismal process| |response to other organism| |response to external biotic stimulus| |locomotion| |response to biotic stimulus| |integral component of plasma membrane| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |regulation of response to stress| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |response to oxygen-containing compound| |extracellular space| |negative regulation of response to stimulus| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp177|Apcin 25μM plus proTAME 2μM R04 exp177]]|1.99| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
