This protein is a ligand for TNFRSF17/BCMA, a member of the TNF receptor family. This protein and its receptor are both found to be important for B cell development. In vitro experiments suggested that this protein may be able to induce apoptosis through its interaction with other TNF receptor family proteins such as TNFRSF6/FAS and TNFRSF14/HVEM. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Some transcripts that skip the last exon of the upstream gene (TNFSF12) and continue into the second exon of this gene have been identified; such read-through transcripts are contained in GeneID 407977, TNFSF12-TNFSF13. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2010]. * **UniProt Summary**: Cytokine that binds to TNFRSF13B/TACI and to TNFRSF17/BCMA. Plays a role in the regulation of tumor cell growth. May be involved in monocyte/macrophage-mediated immunological processes. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10973284}. |TNF| |positive regulation of isotype switching to IgA isotypes| |regulation of isotype switching to IgA isotypes| |positive regulation of isotype switching| |tumor necrosis factor receptor binding| |regulation of isotype switching| |positive regulation of B cell mediated immunity| |positive regulation of immunoglobulin mediated immune response| |positive regulation of DNA recombination| |positive regulation of immunoglobulin production| |regulation of immunoglobulin mediated immune response| |regulation of B cell mediated immunity| |regulation of immunoglobulin production| |positive regulation of production of molecular mediator of immune response| |positive regulation of adaptive immune response based on somatic recombination of immune receptors built from immunoglobulin superfamily domains| |regulation of DNA recombination| |positive regulation of lymphocyte mediated immunity| |positive regulation of adaptive immune response| |tumor necrosis factor-mediated signaling pathway| |positive regulation of leukocyte mediated immunity| |regulation of production of molecular mediator of immune response| |regulation of adaptive immune response based on somatic recombination of immune receptors built from immunoglobulin superfamily domains| |regulation of lymphocyte mediated immunity| |regulation of adaptive immune response| |positive regulation of B cell activation| |cytokine activity| |regulation of mRNA stability| |regulation of RNA stability| |positive regulation of DNA metabolic process| |regulation of mRNA catabolic process| |regulation of leukocyte mediated immunity| |regulation of B cell activation| |positive regulation of immune effector process| |cellular response to tumor necrosis factor| |response to tumor necrosis factor| |regulation of mRNA metabolic process| |signaling receptor binding| |regulation of DNA metabolic process| |positive regulation of lymphocyte activation| |positive regulation of leukocyte activation| |positive regulation of cell activation| |regulation of immune effector process| |regulation of lymphocyte activation| |posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression| |regulation of leukocyte activation| |regulation of cell activation| |cytokine-mediated signaling pathway| |regulation of cellular catabolic process| |positive regulation of immune response| |positive regulation of cell population proliferation| |regulation of catabolic process| |cellular response to cytokine stimulus| |response to cytokine| |regulation of immune response| |positive regulation of immune system process| |positive regulation of developmental process| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |regulation of immune system process| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| |immune response| |positive regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |extracellular region| |membrane| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
