Mutations in this gene cause spinocerebellar ataxia type 11 (SCA11); a neurodegenerative disease characterized by progressive ataxia and atrophy of the cerebellum and brainstem. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2009]. * **UniProt Summary**: Serine/threonine kinase that acts as a key regulator of ciliogenesis: controls the initiation of ciliogenesis by binding to the distal end of the basal body and promoting the removal of CCP110, which caps the mother centriole, leading to the recruitment of IFT proteins, which build the ciliary axoneme. Has some substrate preference for proteins that are already phosphorylated on a Tyr residue at the +2 position relative to the phosphorylation site. Able to phosphorylate tau on serines in vitro. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:21548880, ECO:0000269|PubMed:23141541}. |Pkinase| |Pkinase Tyr| |cerebellar granule cell precursor tangential migration| |negative regulation of microtubule binding| |hindbrain tangential cell migration| |regulation of protein localization to microtubule| |negative regulation of protein localization to microtubule| |regulation of microtubule binding| |cerebellar granular layer development| |cell migration in hindbrain| |microtubule plus-end binding| |tau-protein kinase activity| |negative regulation of microtubule depolymerization| |ciliary transition zone| |regulation of microtubule depolymerization| |negative regulation of microtubule polymerization or depolymerization| |kinesin binding| |tau protein binding| |cerebellar cortex development| |negative regulation of protein depolymerization| |negative regulation of protein complex disassembly| |smoothened signaling pathway| |regulation of microtubule polymerization or depolymerization| |peptidyl-threonine phosphorylation| |regulation of protein depolymerization| |peptidyl-threonine modification| |ciliary basal body-plasma membrane docking| |cerebellum development| |negative regulation of protein binding| |metencephalon development| |negative regulation of cellular protein localization| |regulation of protein complex disassembly| |negative regulation of supramolecular fiber organization| |ciliary basal body| |negative regulation of cytoskeleton organization| |centriole| |hindbrain development| |organelle localization by membrane tethering| |negative regulation of binding| |peptidyl-serine phosphorylation| |membrane docking| |regulation of microtubule cytoskeleton organization| |peptidyl-serine modification| |regulation of protein binding| |regulation of microtubule-based process| |protein kinase activity| |cilium assembly| |regulation of supramolecular fiber organization| |protein serine/threonine kinase activity| |cilium organization| |negative regulation of organelle organization| |regulation of binding| |plasma membrane bounded cell projection assembly| |cell projection assembly| |microtubule cytoskeleton organization| |regulation of cellular protein localization| |regulation of cytoskeleton organization| |organelle localization| |microtubule-based process| |negative regulation of cellular component organization| |brain development| |organelle assembly| |head development| |regulation of cell migration| |peptidyl-amino acid modification| |regulation of cell motility| |regulation of cellular localization| |cell migration| |protein phosphorylation| |central nervous system development| |regulation of locomotion| |regulation of cellular component movement| |regulation of protein localization| |cell motility| |localization of cell| |cytoskeleton organization| |plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |negative regulation of molecular function| |cell projection organization| |phosphorylation| |regulation of organelle organization| |locomotion| |ATP binding| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |extracellular space| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp448|Ammonium tetrathiomolybdate 10μM R08 exp448]]|1.76| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
