The encoded protein functions as a scaffolding protein and plays roles in ubiquitination and transcription, in part though interactions with the RNA polymerase II subunit RPB5. This gene may play a role in multiple malignancies including ovarian cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene, and a pseudogene of this gene is located on the long arm of chromosome 22. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011]. * **UniProt Summary**: Involved in gene transcription regulation. Acts as a transcriptional repressor in concert with the corepressor UXT to regulate androgen receptor (AR) transcription. May act as a tumor suppressor to repress AR-mediated gene transcription and to inhibit anchorage-independent growth in prostate cancer cells. Required for cell survival in ovarian cancer cells. Together with UXT, associates with chromatin to the NKX3-1 promoter region. Antagonizes transcriptional modulation via hepatitis B virus X protein. |Prefoldin| |phosphatase inhibitor activity| |RNA polymerase II complex binding| |protein phosphatase inhibitor activity| |phosphoprotein binding| |negative regulation of phosphoprotein phosphatase activity| |negative regulation of protein dephosphorylation| |negative regulation of intrinsic apoptotic signaling pathway| |negative regulation of phosphatase activity| |negative regulation of dephosphorylation| |regulation of phosphoprotein phosphatase activity| |regulation of protein dephosphorylation| |regulation of intrinsic apoptotic signaling pathway| |regulation of phosphatase activity| |cellular response to steroid hormone stimulus| |regulation of dephosphorylation| |negative regulation of apoptotic signaling pathway| |transcription corepressor activity| |response to virus| |response to steroid hormone| |chromatin binding| |regulation of apoptotic signaling pathway| |regulation of cell growth| |dendrite| |negative regulation of hydrolase activity| |cellular response to growth factor stimulus| |negative regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |cellular response to lipid| |response to growth factor| |cellular response to organic cyclic compound| |negative regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |negative regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |negative regulation of protein modification process| |cellular response to hormone stimulus| |regulation of growth| |negative regulation of catalytic activity| |response to lipid| |negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |negative regulation of apoptotic process| |negative regulation of programmed cell death| |response to hormone| |response to organic cyclic compound| |negative regulation of cell death| |negative regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |negative regulation of protein metabolic process| |negative regulation of molecular function| |negative regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |negative regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |negative regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |mitochondrion| |negative regulation of signal transduction| |regulation of hydrolase activity| |response to other organism| |response to external biotic stimulus| |response to biotic stimulus| |negative regulation of RNA metabolic process| |negative regulation of cell communication| |negative regulation of signaling| |negative regulation of cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |negative regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |response to endogenous stimulus| |negative regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |regulation of apoptotic process| |negative regulation of biosynthetic process| |regulation of programmed cell death| |negative regulation of response to stimulus| |regulation of cell death| |negative regulation of gene expression| |regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |regulation of protein modification process| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Combretastatin A4 0.002 to 0.003μM day4 R04 exp179|-3.13| |PT-1 25μM R07 exp392|-2.23| |2-Methoxyestradiol 0.2μM R01 exp40|-2.06| |Trichostatin-A 0.06μM R07 exp415|-1.99| |Tenofovir 10μM R07 exp405|-1.93| |Tubacin 1.6μM R07 exp416|-1.92| |Docosahexaenoic-acid 50μM R07 exp356|-1.8| |BI-D1870 3.15μM R02 exp66|-1.74| |Dorsomorphin 5μM R07 exp357|-1.74| |Deguelin 0.15μM R05 exp209|-1.73| |CHIR-124 0.04μM R06 exp272|1.8| |PNU96415E 10μM R03 exp145|1.86| |Trametinib 10μM R02 exp83|1.94| |Celastrol 0.12μM R05 exp225|2.07| |Atovaquone 15μM R08 exp451|2.14| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
