The VEGF family members regulate the formation of blood vessels and are involved in endothelial cell physiology. This member is a ligand for VEGFR-1 (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1) and NRP-1 (neuropilin-1). Studies in mice showed that this gene was co-expressed with nuclear-encoded mitochondrial genes and the encoded protein specifically controlled endothelial uptake of fatty acids. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2011]. * **UniProt Summary**: Growth factor for endothelial cells. VEGF-B167 binds heparin and neuropilin-1 whereas the binding to neuropilin-1 of VEGF-B186 is regulated by proteolysis. |PDGF| |vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 binding| |positive regulation of mast cell chemotaxis| |vascular endothelial growth factor receptor binding| |regulation of mast cell chemotaxis| |induction of positive chemotaxis| |vascular endothelial growth factor signaling pathway| |positive regulation of positive chemotaxis| |regulation of positive chemotaxis| |chemoattractant activity| |cellular response to vascular endothelial growth factor stimulus| |coronary vasculature development| |positive chemotaxis| |sprouting angiogenesis| |vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway| |platelet alpha granule lumen| |cardiac muscle contraction| |positive regulation of cell division| |heart contraction| |positive regulation of leukocyte chemotaxis| |positive regulation of endothelial cell proliferation| |heart process| |striated muscle contraction| |protein O-linked glycosylation| |regulation of leukocyte chemotaxis| |positive regulation of leukocyte migration| |regulation of endothelial cell proliferation| |platelet degranulation| |positive regulation of chemotaxis| |growth factor activity| |positive regulation of angiogenesis| |regulation of cell division| |heparin binding| |positive regulation of vasculature development| |positive regulation of epithelial cell proliferation| |regulation of leukocyte migration| |regulation of chemotaxis| |muscle contraction| |protein glycosylation| |macromolecule glycosylation| |glycosylation| |regulation of angiogenesis| |muscle system process| |angiogenesis| |regulation of vasculature development| |glycoprotein biosynthetic process| |regulation of epithelial cell proliferation| |response to hypoxia| |response to decreased oxygen levels| |response to oxygen levels| |glycoprotein metabolic process| |blood circulation| |circulatory system process| |blood vessel morphogenesis| |blood vessel development| |protein heterodimerization activity| |positive regulation of cell migration| |cellular response to growth factor stimulus| |transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase signaling pathway| |vasculature development| |cardiovascular system development| |positive regulation of cell motility| |heart development| |response to growth factor| |positive regulation of cellular component movement| |chemotaxis| |positive regulation of locomotion| |taxis| |positive regulation of response to external stimulus| |carbohydrate derivative biosynthetic process| |tube morphogenesis| |regulated exocytosis| |enzyme linked receptor protein signaling pathway| |exocytosis| |tube development| |regulation of cell migration| |circulatory system development| |protein homodimerization activity| |anatomical structure formation involved in morphogenesis| |regulation of cell motility| |positive regulation of cell population proliferation| |regulation of locomotion| |regulation of cellular component movement| |secretion by cell| |positive regulation of protein phosphorylation| |response to drug| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |export from cell| |positive regulation of phosphorylation| |regulation of anatomical structure morphogenesis| |regulation of response to external stimulus| |secretion| |positive regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |positive regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |positive regulation of immune system process| |response to abiotic stimulus| |positive regulation of protein modification process| |locomotion| |positive regulation of developmental process| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |regulation of protein phosphorylation| |regulation of phosphorylation| |extracellular space| |positive regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |regulation of immune system process| |positive regulation of protein metabolic process| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |regulation of protein modification process| |extracellular region| |vesicle-mediated transport| |system process| |membrane| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp405|Tenofovir 10μM R07 exp405]]|1.74| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
