The encoded protein contains two C2H2-type zinc fingers and five homeodomains and forms a dimer with itself or with zinc fingers and homeoboxes family member 1. In the nucleus, the dimerized protein interacts with the A subunit of the ubiquitous transcription factor nuclear factor-Y and may function as a transcriptional repressor. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **UniProt Summary**: Acts as a transcriptional repressor. Involved in the early stages of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) osteogenic differentiation. Is a regulator of podocyte gene expression during primary glomerula disease. Binds to promoter DNA. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12659632, ECO:0000269|PubMed:21174497}. |Homeobox| |Homez| |positive regulation of osteoblast differentiation| |positive regulation of ossification| |regulation of osteoblast differentiation| |regulation of ossification| |transcription corepressor activity| |RNA polymerase II regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding| |protein heterodimerization activity| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity| |negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |protein homodimerization activity| |positive regulation of cell differentiation| |negative regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |negative regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |negative regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of RNA metabolic process| |positive regulation of developmental process| |negative regulation of cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |negative regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of biosynthetic process| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |negative regulation of gene expression| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| |regulation of cell differentiation| \\ === CRISPR Data === No hits were found.
