The encoded protein represses transcription of the aldolase A gene, which encodes a key enzyme in glycolysis. The encoded zinc-finger protein may also function as a transcriptional co-activator with Wilms' tumor protein 1 to regulate apoptotic genes in leukemia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2016]. * **UniProt Summary**: May be involved in transcriptional regulation as a transcriptional repressor. The DEPDC1A-ZNF224 complex may play a critical role in bladder carcinogenesis by repressing the transcription of the A20 gene, leading to transport of NF-KB protein into the nucleus, resulting in suppression of apoptosis of bladder cancer cells. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:20587513}. |KRAB| |zf-C2H2| |transcriptional repressor complex| |nuclear membrane| |DNA-binding transcription repressor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |sequence-specific DNA binding| |negative regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |negative regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |negative regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |negative regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of RNA metabolic process| |negative regulation of cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |negative regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of biosynthetic process| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |negative regulation of gene expression| \\ === CRISPR Data === ^Screen^Score^ |Dihydrosphingosine 8μM R08 exp476|1.72| |Cannabidiol 13μM R08 exp465|2.18| |4-Nitroquinoline-1-oxide 0.5μM R08 exp446|2.25| No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics.
