It is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored neuronal membrane protein that functions as a cell adhesion molecule. It may play a role in the formation of axon connections in the developing nervous system. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Contactins mediate cell surface interactions during nervous system development. Involved in the formation of paranodal axo-glial junctions in myelinated peripheral nerves and in the signaling between axons and myelinating glial cells via its association with CNTNAP1. Participates in oligodendrocytes generation by acting as a ligand of NOTCH1. Its association with NOTCH1 promotes NOTCH1 activation through the released notch intracellular domain (NICD) and subsequent translocation to the nucleus. Interaction with TNR induces a repulsion of neurons and an inhibition of neurite outgrowth (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |V-set| |fn3| |ig| |I-set| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |anchored component of postsynaptic membrane| |anchored component of presynaptic membrane| |positive regulation of sodium ion transport| |regulation of sodium ion transport| |cerebellum development| |metencephalon development| |Notch signaling pathway| |hindbrain development| |carbohydrate binding| |positive regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation| |membrane raft| |regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation| |positive regulation of ion transport| |positive regulation of neuron projection development| |positive regulation of neuron differentiation| |positive regulation of cell projection organization| |regulation of metal ion transport| |positive regulation of neurogenesis| |regulation of neuron projection development| |positive regulation of nervous system development| |positive regulation of cell development| |regulation of neuron differentiation| |neuron projection development| |regulation of plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |regulation of ion transport| |regulation of cell projection organization| |brain development| |head development| |neuron development| |regulation of neurogenesis| |regulation of nervous system development| |cell adhesion| |regulation of cell development| |biological adhesion| |positive regulation of cell differentiation| |central nervous system development| |positive regulation of transport| |neuron differentiation| |positive regulation of protein phosphorylation| |positive regulation of phosphorylation| |plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |positive regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |positive regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |cell projection organization| |positive regulation of cellular component organization| |positive regulation of protein modification process| |positive regulation of developmental process| |regulation of protein phosphorylation| |generation of neurons| |regulation of phosphorylation| |positive regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |neurogenesis| |cell development| |positive regulation of protein metabolic process| |positive regulation of multicellular organismal process| |regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |regulation of cell differentiation| |regulation of protein modification process| |regulation of transport| |positive regulation of gene expression| |membrane| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |Alpha-Amanitin 0.5μM R00 exp5|1.74| |Myriocin 25μM R06 exp293|1.9| |Citral 75μM R06 exp275|2.01| |GSK-LSD1 10μM R03 exp123|2.08| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 16060 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 0.11 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='CNTN1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 0.11'> </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
