This protein is the rate-limiting enzyme in the synthesis of cytosine nucleotides, which play an important role in various metabolic processes and provide the precursors necessary for the synthesis of RNA and DNA. Cancer cells that exhibit increased cell proliferation also exhibit an increased activity of this encoded protein. Thus, this protein is an attractive target for selective chemotherapy. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2013]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Catalyzes the ATP-dependent amination of UTP to CTP with either L-glutamine or ammonia as the source of nitrogen. Constitutes the rate-limiting enzyme in the synthesis of cytosine nucleotides. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10899599, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16179339}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |CTP synth N| |Peptidase C26| |GATase| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |de novo CTP biosynthetic process| |CTP synthase activity| |cytoophidium| |pyrimidine nucleobase biosynthetic process| |CTP biosynthetic process| |CTP metabolic process| |pyrimidine ribonucleoside triphosphate biosynthetic process| |pyrimidine ribonucleoside triphosphate metabolic process| |pyrimidine nucleoside triphosphate biosynthetic process| |nucleobase biosynthetic process| |pyrimidine nucleobase metabolic process| |pyrimidine ribonucleotide biosynthetic process| |glutamine metabolic process| |pyrimidine nucleoside triphosphate metabolic process| |pyrimidine ribonucleotide metabolic process| |nucleobase-containing small molecule interconversion| |nucleobase metabolic process| |pyrimidine nucleotide biosynthetic process| |ribonucleoside triphosphate biosynthetic process| |pyrimidine-containing compound biosynthetic process| |pyrimidine nucleotide metabolic process| |nucleoside triphosphate biosynthetic process| |ribonucleoside triphosphate metabolic process| |glutamine family amino acid metabolic process| |nucleoside triphosphate metabolic process| |pyrimidine-containing compound metabolic process| |ribonucleotide biosynthetic process| |ribose phosphate biosynthetic process| |alpha-amino acid metabolic process| |nucleotide biosynthetic process| |nucleoside phosphate biosynthetic process| |cellular amino acid metabolic process| |ribonucleotide metabolic process| |ribose phosphate metabolic process| |nucleotide metabolic process| |nucleoside phosphate metabolic process| |organophosphate biosynthetic process| |nucleobase-containing small molecule metabolic process| |carbohydrate derivative biosynthetic process| |organophosphate metabolic process| |carboxylic acid metabolic process| |oxoacid metabolic process| |organic acid metabolic process| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |identical protein binding| |nucleobase-containing compound biosynthetic process| |heterocycle biosynthetic process| |aromatic compound biosynthetic process| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |ATP binding| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |small molecule metabolic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/694 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/26| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/30| |central nervous system|0/49| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/11| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/14| |kidney|0/18| |liver|0/19| |lung|0/72| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/25| |pancreas|0/22| |peripheral nervous system|0/15| |plasma cell|0/12| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/20| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/28| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 14241 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 4.12 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='CTPS2 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 4.12'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
