The protein encoded by this gene is responsible for phosphorylation of purine deoxyribonucleosides in the mitochondrial matrix. In addition, this protein phosphorylates several purine deoxyribonucleoside analogs used in the treatment of lymphoproliferative disorders, and this phosphorylation is critical for the effectiveness of the analogs. Alternative splice variants encoding different protein isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Phosphorylates deoxyguanosine and deoxyadenosine in the mitochondrial matrix, with the highest efficiency for deoxyguanosine. In non-replicating cells, where cytosolic dNTP synthesis is down-regulated, mtDNA synthesis depends solely on DGUOK and TK2. Phosphorylates certain nucleoside analogs. Widely used as target of antiviral and chemotherapeutic agents. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11687801, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17073823, ECO:0000269|PubMed:23043144, ECO:0000269|PubMed:8706825}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |dNK| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |deoxyguanosine kinase activity| |guanosine metabolic process| |purine deoxyribonucleoside metabolic process| |deoxynucleoside kinase activity| |dGTP metabolic process| |deoxyribonucleoside metabolic process| |purine deoxyribonucleoside triphosphate metabolic process| |deoxyribonucleoside monophosphate biosynthetic process| |purine deoxyribonucleotide metabolic process| |deoxyribonucleoside monophosphate metabolic process| |purine-containing compound salvage| |deoxyribonucleoside triphosphate metabolic process| |2-deoxyribonucleotide metabolic process| |deoxyribose phosphate metabolic process| |deoxyribonucleotide metabolic process| |cellular metabolic compound salvage| |guanosine-containing compound metabolic process| |nucleoside monophosphate biosynthetic process| |purine ribonucleoside metabolic process| |purine nucleoside metabolic process| |purine nucleoside triphosphate metabolic process| |nucleoside monophosphate metabolic process| |ribonucleoside metabolic process| |nucleoside triphosphate metabolic process| |nucleoside metabolic process| |glycosyl compound metabolic process| |negative regulation of neuron projection development| |purine-containing compound biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of cell projection organization| |negative regulation of neuron differentiation| |nucleotide biosynthetic process| |nucleoside phosphate biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of neurogenesis| |negative regulation of nervous system development| |purine nucleotide metabolic process| |negative regulation of cell development| |purine-containing compound metabolic process| |mitochondrial matrix| |nucleotide metabolic process| |nucleoside phosphate metabolic process| |regulation of neuron projection development| |organophosphate biosynthetic process| |nucleobase-containing small molecule metabolic process| |regulation of neuron differentiation| |regulation of plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |negative regulation of cellular component organization| |regulation of cell projection organization| |negative regulation of cell differentiation| |regulation of neurogenesis| |organophosphate metabolic process| |regulation of nervous system development| |regulation of cell development| |negative regulation of developmental process| |protein phosphorylation| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |nucleobase-containing compound biosynthetic process| |heterocycle biosynthetic process| |aromatic compound biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of multicellular organismal process| |mitochondrion| |phosphorylation| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |ATP binding| |generation of neurons| |neurogenesis| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |small molecule metabolic process| |regulation of cell differentiation| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 18502 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 4.89 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='DGUOK Expression in NALM6 Cells: 4.89'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
