This gene encodes subunit A of the type 3 receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. This receptor causes fast, depolarizing responses in neurons after activation. It appears that the heteromeric combination of A and B subunits is necessary to provide the full functional features of this receptor, since either subunit alone results in receptors with very low conductance and response amplitude. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: This is one of the several different receptors for 5- hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. This receptor is a ligand-gated ion channel, which when activated causes fast, depolarizing responses in neurons. It is a cation-specific, but otherwise relatively nonselective, ion channel. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12867984, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9950429}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Neur chan LBD| |Neur chan memb| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |serotonin-activated cation-selective channel complex| |serotonin-gated cation-selective channel activity| |serotonin binding| |serotonin receptor signaling pathway| |integral component of postsynaptic membrane| |extracellular ligand-gated ion channel activity| |cleavage furrow| |response to cocaine| |integral component of presynaptic membrane| |response to anesthetic| |cellular response to dopamine| |response to dopamine| |signal transduction involved in cellular response to ammonium ion| |cellular response to catecholamine stimulus| |cellular response to monoamine stimulus| |positive regulation of ion transmembrane transporter activity| |response to catecholamine| |response to monoamine| |positive regulation of transporter activity| |response to alkaloid| |response to ethanol| |cellular response to ammonium ion| |transmembrane signaling receptor activity| |positive regulation of ion transmembrane transport| |response to ammonium ion| |positive regulation of transmembrane transport| |response to alcohol| |regulation of ion transmembrane transporter activity| |regulation of transmembrane transporter activity| |synapse| |positive regulation of ion transport| |regulation of transporter activity| |axon| |response to xenobiotic stimulus| |response to antibiotic| |neuron projection| |glutamatergic synapse| |neuronal cell body| |cellular response to drug| |chemical synaptic transmission| |anterograde trans-synaptic signaling| |regulation of membrane potential| |trans-synaptic signaling| |synaptic signaling| |regulation of ion transmembrane transport| |cellular response to growth factor stimulus| |response to toxic substance| |response to growth factor| |cellular response to organic cyclic compound| |cell junction| |regulation of transmembrane transport| |cellular response to organonitrogen compound| |cellular response to nitrogen compound| |regulation of ion transport| |response to organic cyclic compound| |ion transmembrane transport| |positive regulation of transport| |response to organonitrogen compound| |response to drug| |cellular response to oxygen-containing compound| |response to nitrogen compound| |cell-cell signaling| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |transmembrane transport| |ion transport| |nervous system process| |integral component of plasma membrane| |response to endogenous stimulus| |response to oxygen-containing compound| |positive regulation of molecular function| |regulation of transport| |system process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 6878 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -6.6 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='HTR3A Expression in NALM6 Cells: -6.6'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
