Activation is followed by membrane hyperpolarization, which promotes calcium influx. The encoded protein may be part of the predominant calcium-activated potassium channel in T-lymphocytes. This gene is similar to other KCNN family potassium channel genes, but it differs enough to possibly be considered as part of a new subfamily. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Forms a voltage-independent potassium channel that is activated by intracellular calcium (PubMed:26148990). Activation is followed by membrane hyperpolarization which promotes calcium influx. Required for maximal calcium influx and proliferation during the reactivation of naive T-cells. The channel is blocked by clotrimazole and charybdotoxin but is insensitive to apamin (PubMed:17157250, PubMed:18796614). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17157250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:18796614, ECO:0000269|PubMed:26148990}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Ion trans 2| |CaMBD| |SK channel| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |Intermediate conductance calcium-activated potassium channel activity| |small conductance calcium-activated potassium channel activity| |saliva secretion| |calcium-activated potassium channel activity| |positive regulation of T cell receptor signaling pathway| |stabilization of membrane potential| |secretion by tissue| |positive regulation of antigen receptor-mediated signaling pathway| |cell volume homeostasis| |potassium channel activity| |regulation of T cell receptor signaling pathway| |phospholipid translocation| |lipid translocation| |regulation of membrane lipid distribution| |regulation of antigen receptor-mediated signaling pathway| |body fluid secretion| |digestive system process| |voltage-gated potassium channel complex| |protein phosphatase binding| |phospholipid transport| |digestion| |organophosphate ester transport| |vesicle| |potassium ion transmembrane transport| |potassium ion transport| |regulation of cell size| |calmodulin binding| |calcium ion transport| |positive regulation of protein secretion| |positive regulation of peptide secretion| |divalent metal ion transport| |lipid transport| |divalent inorganic cation transport| |neuron projection| |lipid localization| |neuronal cell body| |regulation of cellular component size| |monovalent inorganic cation transport| |positive regulation of secretion by cell| |positive regulation of protein transport| |regulation of membrane potential| |positive regulation of secretion| |organic anion transport| |positive regulation of establishment of protein localization| |regulation of protein secretion| |regulation of peptide secretion| |regulation of body fluid levels| |regulation of anatomical structure size| |inorganic cation transmembrane transport| |anion transport| |cation transmembrane transport| |metal ion transport| |inorganic ion transmembrane transport| |regulation of protein transport| |regulation of peptide transport| |regulation of establishment of protein localization| |regulation of secretion by cell| |regulation of secretion| |cation transport| |membrane organization| |positive regulation of immune response| |cellular homeostasis| |ion transmembrane transport| |positive regulation of transport| |regulation of protein localization| |secretion| |regulation of immune response| |positive regulation of immune system process| |transmembrane transport| |defense response| |ion transport| |homeostatic process| |positive regulation of signal transduction| |regulation of immune system process| |positive regulation of cell communication| |positive regulation of signaling| |regulation of transport| |system process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |Nicotine 3000μM R08 exp510|-2.55| |Thapsigargin 0.005μM R07 exp407|-2.1| |2-Methoxyestradiol 0.55μM R07 exp310|2.12| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 4007 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 4.86 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='KCNN4 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 4.86'> </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
