Most members contain an N-terminal pleckstrin homology domain and a highly conserved C-terminal OSBP-like sterol-binding domain. This gene has been shown to be imprinted, with preferential expression from the maternal allele only in placenta. Transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2010]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Lipid transporter involved in lipid countertransport between the endoplasmic reticulum and the plasma membrane: specifically exchanges phosphatidylserine with phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI4P), delivering phosphatidylserine to the plasma membrane in exchange for PI4P, which is degraded by the SAC1/SACM1L phosphatase in the endoplasmic reticulum. Binds phosphatidylserine and PI4P in a mutually exclusive manner (PubMed:23934110, PubMed:26206935). May cooperate with NPC1 to mediate the exit of cholesterol from endosomes/lysosomes (PubMed:21220512). Binds 25-hydroxycholesterol and cholesterol (PubMed:17428193). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:17428193, ECO:0000269|PubMed:21220512, ECO:0000269|PubMed:23934110, ECO:0000269|PubMed:26206935}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |PH| |Oxysterol BP| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |phosphatidylserine transfer activity| |oxysterol binding| |endoplasmic reticulum-plasma membrane contact site| |sterol binding| |sterol transporter activity| |phospholipid transporter activity| |phosphatidylserine acyl-chain remodeling| |phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate binding| |phosphatidylserine metabolic process| |cholesterol binding| |cholesterol transport| |phosphatidylserine binding| |Golgi to plasma membrane transport| |sterol transport| |phospholipid transport| |vesicle-mediated transport to the plasma membrane| |post-Golgi vesicle-mediated transport| |cholesterol metabolic process| |organophosphate ester transport| |secondary alcohol metabolic process| |sterol metabolic process| |organic hydroxy compound transport| |lipid binding| |cellular modified amino acid metabolic process| |steroid metabolic process| |lipid transport| |glycerophospholipid metabolic process| |alcohol metabolic process| |lipid localization| |Golgi vesicle transport| |phospholipid metabolic process| |glycerolipid metabolic process| |organic hydroxy compound metabolic process| |organic anion transport| |anion transport| |intracellular membrane-bounded organelle| |organophosphate metabolic process| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |cellular lipid metabolic process| |lipid metabolic process| |ion transport| |small molecule metabolic process| |vesicle-mediated transport| |membrane| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |Docetaxel 0.001 to 0.002μM on day4 R04 exp159|-1.9| |L-BMAA 500 to 750μM on day4 R04 exp185|-1.7| |ZLN024 50μM R08 exp538|1.89| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 7637 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -6.6 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='OSBPL5 Expression in NALM6 Cells: -6.6'> </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
