Catalyzes the conversion of phosphatidic acid (PA) to diacylglycerol (DG). Pivotal regulator of lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) signaling in the cardiovascular system. Major enzyme responsible of dephosphorylating LPA in platelets, which terminates signaling actions of LPA. May control circulating, and possibly also regulate localized, LPA levels resulting from platelet activation. It has little activity towards ceramide-1-phosphate (C-1-P) and sphingosine-1-phosphate (S-1-P). The relative catalytic efficiency is LPA > PA > S-1-P > C-1-P. It's down-regulation may contribute to the development of colon adenocarcinoma. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12909631}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |PAP2| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |sphingosine-1-phosphate phosphatase activity| |germ cell migration| |lipid phosphatase activity| |phosphatidate phosphatase activity| |protein kinase C-activating G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |phospholipid dephosphorylation| |androgen receptor signaling pathway| |phosphatase activity| |intracellular steroid hormone receptor signaling pathway| |sphingolipid biosynthetic process| |steroid hormone mediated signaling pathway| |membrane lipid biosynthetic process| |sphingolipid metabolic process| |intracellular receptor signaling pathway| |hormone-mediated signaling pathway| |cellular response to steroid hormone stimulus| |lipid modification| |membrane lipid metabolic process| |protein dephosphorylation| |dephosphorylation| |response to steroid hormone| |cellular process involved in reproduction in multicellular organism| |phospholipid metabolic process| |regulation of lipid metabolic process| |cellular response to lipid| |cellular response to organic cyclic compound| |lipid biosynthetic process| |cellular response to hormone stimulus| |negative regulation of cell population proliferation| |gamete generation| |multicellular organismal reproductive process| |sexual reproduction| |multicellular organism reproduction| |response to lipid| |organophosphate metabolic process| |response to hormone| |response to organic cyclic compound| |cellular lipid metabolic process| |cell migration| |multi-organism reproductive process| |cell motility| |localization of cell| |lipid metabolic process| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |locomotion| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |integral component of plasma membrane| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |response to endogenous stimulus| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |membrane| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp521|Salinomycin 3.5μM R08 exp521]]|-1.9| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 17799 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 3.31 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='PPAP2A Expression in NALM6 Cells: 3.31'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
