The protein encoded by this gene resides in the ER, and transports both UDP-glucuronic acid (UDP-GlcA) and UDP-N-acetylgalactosamine (UDP-GalNAc) from the cytoplasm to the ER lumen. It may participate in glucuronidation and/or chondroitin sulfate biosynthesis. Mutations in this gene are associated with Schneckenbecken dysplasia.[provided by RefSeq, Sep 2009]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Transports both UDP-glucuronic acid (UDP-GlcA) and UDP- N-acetylgalactosamine (UDP-GalNAc) from the cytoplasm into the endoplasmic reticulum lumen (PubMed:11322953, PubMed:17952091). Plays a role in chondroitin sulfate biosynthesis, which is important for formation of cartilage extracellular matrix and normal skeletal development (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:A2AKQ0, ECO:0000269|PubMed:11322953, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17952091}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |TPT| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |UDP-glucuronic acid transmembrane transporter activity| |UDP-N-acetylgalactosamine transmembrane transporter activity| |UDP-glucuronic acid transmembrane transport| |UDP-N-acetylgalactosamine transmembrane transport| |UDP-glucuronate biosynthetic process| |UDP-glucuronate metabolic process| |UDP-N-acetylglucosamine transmembrane transport| |UDP-N-acetylglucosamine transmembrane transporter activity| |pyrimidine nucleotide-sugar transmembrane transporter activity| |pyrimidine nucleotide-sugar transmembrane transport| |nucleotide-sugar transmembrane transport| |nucleotide-sugar biosynthetic process| |antiporter activity| |chondroitin sulfate biosynthetic process| |chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan biosynthetic process| |nucleotide-sugar metabolic process| |chondroitin sulfate metabolic process| |chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan metabolic process| |transmembrane transporter activity| |proteoglycan biosynthetic process| |carbohydrate derivative transport| |carbohydrate transport| |proteoglycan metabolic process| |glycosaminoglycan biosynthetic process| |mucopolysaccharide metabolic process| |aminoglycan biosynthetic process| |embryonic skeletal system development| |carboxylic acid transmembrane transport| |organic acid transmembrane transport| |glycosaminoglycan metabolic process| |aminoglycan metabolic process| |sulfur compound biosynthetic process| |nucleobase-containing compound transport| |anion transmembrane transport| |organic acid transport| |carboxylic acid transport| |carboxylic acid biosynthetic process| |organic acid biosynthetic process| |glycoprotein biosynthetic process| |sulfur compound metabolic process| |glycoprotein metabolic process| |organic anion transport| |skeletal system development| |nucleobase-containing small molecule metabolic process| |anion transport| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |carbohydrate derivative biosynthetic process| |chordate embryonic development| |embryo development ending in birth or egg hatching| |carboxylic acid metabolic process| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |ion transmembrane transport| |embryo development| |Golgi apparatus| |oxoacid metabolic process| |organic acid metabolic process| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |nucleobase-containing compound biosynthetic process| |heterocycle biosynthetic process| |aromatic compound biosynthetic process| |transmembrane transport| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |ion transport| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |small molecule metabolic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |nitrogen compound transport| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 6245 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 6.68 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='SLC35D1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 6.68'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
