Sodium bicarbonate cotransporters are involved in intracellular pH regulation and electroneural or electrogenic sodium bicarbonate transport. This protein is thought to be an integral membrane protein. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene, but the biological validity of some variants has not been determined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Mediates sodium- and bicarbonate-dependent electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransport, with a Na(+):HCO3(-) stoichiometry of 2:1. May have a housekeeping function in regulating the pH of tissues in which it is expressed. May play a role in mediating Na(+):HCO3(-) cotransport in hepatocytes and intrahepatic cholangiocytes. Also may be important in protecting the renal paranchyma from alterations in urine pH. {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q6RI88, ECO:0000269|PubMed:11788353, ECO:0000269|PubMed:11997242, ECO:0000269|PubMed:12388414}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Band 3 cyto| |HCO3 cotransp| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |cerebrospinal fluid secretion| |sodium:bicarbonate symporter activity| |inorganic anion exchanger activity| |mitochondrion distribution| |secretion by tissue| |anion:anion antiporter activity| |bicarbonate transport| |mitochondrion localization| |body fluid secretion| |regulation of intracellular pH| |regulation of cellular pH| |regulation of systemic arterial blood pressure| |regulation of pH| |cellular monovalent inorganic cation homeostasis| |renal system process| |retina development in camera-type eye| |monovalent inorganic cation homeostasis| |sodium ion transport| |inorganic anion transport| |regulation of blood pressure| |epithelial cell development| |anion transmembrane transport| |camera-type eye development| |apical plasma membrane| |eye development| |visual system development| |sensory system development| |blood circulation| |circulatory system process| |monovalent inorganic cation transport| |mitochondrion organization| |organic anion transport| |regulation of body fluid levels| |sensory organ development| |organelle localization| |anion transport| |cellular cation homeostasis| |metal ion transport| |cellular ion homeostasis| |epithelial cell differentiation| |cation homeostasis| |inorganic ion homeostasis| |cellular chemical homeostasis| |ion homeostasis| |cation transport| |cellular homeostasis| |ion transmembrane transport| |chemical homeostasis| |epithelium development| |secretion| |transmembrane transport| |ion transport| |integral component of plasma membrane| |homeostatic process| |cell development| |tissue development| |system process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 3/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|1/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|1/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 5114 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 4.59 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='SLC4A5 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 4.59'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
