Members of this family have been identified in plants, vertebrates, and invertebrates. TULP proteins share a conserved C-terminal region of approximately 200 amino acid residues. The protein encoded by this gene is thought to play a role in the physiology of photoreceptors. Mutations in this gene are associated with recessive juvenile retinitis pigmentosa and Leber congenital amaurosis-15. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2016]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Required for normal development of photoreceptor synapses. Required for normal photoreceptor function and for long- term survival of photoreceptor cells. Interacts with cytoskeleton proteins and may play a role in protein transport in photoreceptor cells (By similarity). Binds lipids, especially phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate, phosphatidylinositol 4- phosphate, phosphatidylinositol 5-phosphate, phosphatidylinositol 3,4-bisphosphate, phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate, phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-bisphosphate, phosphatidylserine and phosphatidic acid (in vitro). Contribute to stimulation of phagocytosis of apoptotic retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) cells and macrophages. {ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:16303976, ECO:0000269|PubMed:19837063}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Tub| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |protein localization to photoreceptor outer segment| |protein localization to non-motile cilium| |detection of light stimulus involved in sensory perception| |detection of light stimulus involved in visual perception| |eye photoreceptor cell development| |photoreceptor cell maintenance| |eye photoreceptor cell differentiation| |protein localization to cilium| |photoreceptor cell development| |detection of visible light| |photoreceptor inner segment| |axon terminus| |photoreceptor cell differentiation| |detection of light stimulus| |photoreceptor outer segment| |positive regulation of phagocytosis| |retina homeostasis| |phosphatidylinositol-4,5-bisphosphate binding| |regulation of phagocytosis| |cell projection| |dendrite development| |phagocytosis, recognition| |detection of external stimulus| |detection of abiotic stimulus| |retina development in camera-type eye| |eye morphogenesis| |tissue homeostasis| |cilium| |actin filament binding| |visual perception| |sensory perception of light stimulus| |cell recognition| |sensory organ morphogenesis| |synapse| |response to light stimulus| |camera-type eye development| |multicellular organismal homeostasis| |phagocytosis| |anatomical structure homeostasis| |eye development| |visual system development| |sensory system development| |response to radiation| |detection of stimulus involved in sensory perception| |sensory organ development| |cell junction| |regulation of vesicle-mediated transport| |endocytosis| |neuron projection development| |import into cell| |detection of stimulus| |protein localization to organelle| |neuron development| |animal organ morphogenesis| |sensory perception| |positive regulation of transport| |neuron differentiation| |plasma membrane bounded cell projection organization| |cell projection organization| |response to abiotic stimulus| |nervous system process| |generation of neurons| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |neurogenesis| |homeostatic process| |cell development| |regulation of transport| |extracellular region| |vesicle-mediated transport| |system process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 1/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|1/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 3537 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -0.33 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='TULP1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: -0.33'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
