The encoded product shares strong homology with the C. elegans unc119 protein and it can functionally complement the C. elegans unc119 mutation. It has been localized to the photoreceptor synapses in the outer plexiform layer of the retina, and suggested to play a role in the mechanism of photoreceptor neurotransmitter release through the synaptic vesicle cycle. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Involved in synaptic functions in photoreceptor cells, the signal transduction in immune cells as a Src family kinase activator, endosome recycling, the uptake of bacteria and endocytosis, protein trafficking in sensory neurons and as lipid- binding chaperone with specificity for a diverse subset of myristoylated proteins. Specifically binds the myristoyl moiety of a subset of N-terminally myristoylated proteins and is required for their localization. Binds myristoylated GNAT1 and is required for G-protein localization and trafficking in sensory neurons. Probably plays a role in trafficking proteins in photoreceptor cells. Plays important roles in mediating Src family kinase signals for the completion of cytokinesis via RAB11A. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:12496276, ECO:0000269|PubMed:14757743, ECO:0000269|PubMed:19381274, ECO:0000269|PubMed:21642972, ECO:0000269|PubMed:22085962, ECO:0000269|PubMed:23535298, ECO:0000305|PubMed:22960633}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |GMP PDE delta| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |negative regulation of caveolin-mediated endocytosis| |negative regulation of clathrin-dependent endocytosis| |regulation of caveolin-mediated endocytosis| |lipoprotein transport| |lipoprotein localization| |regulation of clathrin-dependent endocytosis| |negative regulation of receptor-mediated endocytosis| |spindle midzone| |phototransduction| |negative regulation of endocytosis| |positive regulation of protein tyrosine kinase activity| |intercellular bridge| |detection of light stimulus| |mitotic cytokinesis| |regulation of protein tyrosine kinase activity| |cytoskeleton-dependent cytokinesis| |cytokinesis| |regulation of receptor-mediated endocytosis| |detection of external stimulus| |spindle pole| |detection of abiotic stimulus| |lipid binding| |positive regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation| |regulation of endocytosis| |visual perception| |sensory perception of light stimulus| |regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation| |response to light stimulus| |anterograde trans-synaptic signaling| |chemical synaptic transmission| |trans-synaptic signaling| |response to radiation| |synaptic signaling| |negative regulation of transport| |centrosome| |cell division| |positive regulation of protein kinase activity| |regulation of vesicle-mediated transport| |endocytosis| |positive regulation of kinase activity| |mitotic cell cycle process| |positive regulation of transferase activity| |import into cell| |mitotic cell cycle| |detection of stimulus| |negative regulation of cellular component organization| |regulation of protein kinase activity| |regulation of kinase activity| |sensory perception| |regulation of transferase activity| |cell cycle process| |positive regulation of protein phosphorylation| |positive regulation of phosphorylation| |cell-cell signaling| |positive regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |positive regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |response to abiotic stimulus| |positive regulation of protein modification process| |cell cycle| |nervous system process| |positive regulation of catalytic activity| |regulation of protein phosphorylation| |protein transport| |peptide transport| |amide transport| |regulation of phosphorylation| |positive regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |establishment of protein localization| |positive regulation of protein metabolic process| |positive regulation of molecular function| |regulation of phosphate metabolic process| |regulation of phosphorus metabolic process| |regulation of protein modification process| |nitrogen compound transport| |regulation of transport| |vesicle-mediated transport| |system process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp500|LY2090314 0.003μM R08 exp500 no dilution day6]]|1.74| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 5916 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 3.64 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='UNC119 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 3.64'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2025/12/10 20:19by 127.0.0.1
