It has been implicated in dynein-mediated, minus end-directed motility along microtubules. It has also been reported to be a phosphorylation target of NIMA related kinase 8. Two alternative splice variants have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Acts as an adapter protein linking the dynein motor complex to various cargos and converts dynein from a non- processive to a highly processive motor in the presence of dynactin. Facilitates and stabilizes the interaction between dynein and dynactin and activates dynein processivity (the ability to move along a microtubule for a long distance without falling off the track) (By similarity). Facilitates the binding of RAB6A to the Golgi by stabilizing its GTP-bound form. Regulates coat complex coatomer protein I (COPI)-independent Golgi-endoplasmic reticulum transport via its interaction with RAB6A and recruitment of the dynein-dynactin motor complex (PubMed:25962623). Contributes to nuclear and centrosomal positioning prior to mitotic entry through regulation of both dynein and kinesin-1. During G2 phase of the cell cycle, associates with RANBP2 at the nuclear pores and recruits dynein and dynactin to the nuclear envelope to ensure proper positioning of the nucleus relative to centrosomes prior to the onset of mitosis (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q921C5, ECO:0000269|PubMed:25962623}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |BicD| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |annulate lamellae| |minus-end-directed organelle transport along microtubule| |dynactin binding| |microtubule anchoring at microtubule organizing center| |cytoskeletal adaptor activity| |dynein complex binding| |microtubule anchoring| |protein localization to Golgi apparatus| |dynein light intermediate chain binding| |centrosome localization| |microtubule organizing center localization| |nuclear pore| |organelle transport along microtubule| |retrograde vesicle-mediated transport, Golgi to endoplasmic reticulum| |Rab GTPase binding| |mRNA transport| |transport along microtubule| |cytoskeleton-dependent intracellular transport| |nuclear envelope| |microtubule-based transport| |regulation of microtubule cytoskeleton organization| |nucleic acid transport| |RNA transport| |establishment of RNA localization| |RNA localization| |regulation of microtubule-based process| |nucleobase-containing compound transport| |cytoplasmic vesicle| |microtubule-based movement| |establishment of organelle localization| |Golgi vesicle transport| |microtubule cytoskeleton organization| |centrosome| |regulation of cytoskeleton organization| |organelle localization| |microtubule-based process| |protein localization to organelle| |Golgi apparatus| |cytoskeleton organization| |regulation of organelle organization| |protein transport| |intracellular transport| |peptide transport| |movement of cell or subcellular component| |amide transport| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |establishment of protein localization| |establishment of localization in cell| |nitrogen compound transport| |vesicle-mediated transport| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |Colchicine 0.009μM R05 exp215|-2.68| |S-trityl-L-cysteine 0.5μM R05 exp243|-2.38| |Combretastatin A4 0.002 to 0.003μM day4 R04 exp179|-2.35| |Nocodazole 0.1μM R03 exp94|-2.28| |Isonicotinamide 500μM R03 exp129|-2.07| |Demecolcine 0.03μM R05 exp228|-1.89| |Pomalidomide 20μM R07 exp391|-1.88| |BML-284 0.09μM R08 exp460|-1.84| |Geldanamycin 0.01μM R05 exp235|-1.73| |Tenofovir 10μM R07 exp405|-1.73| |Taxol 0.004μM R03 exp103|-1.72| |4-Nitroquinoline-1-oxide 0.5μM R08 exp446|-1.71| |Docetaxel 0.002μM R01 exp45|2.41| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 1/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|1/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 5807 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 6.89 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='BICD2 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 6.89'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
