Chondroitin sulfate E (CS-E) is an isomer of chondroitin sulfate in which the C-4 and C-6 hydroxyl groups are sulfated. This gene encodes a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that acts as a sulfotransferase to transfer sulfate to the C-6 hydroxal group of chondroitin sulfate. This gene has also been identified as being co-expressed with RAG1 in B-cells and as potentially acting as a B-cell surface signaling receptor. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2012]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Sulfotransferase that transfers sulfate from 3'- phosphoadenosine 5'-phosphosulfate (PAPS) to the C-6 hydroxyl group of the GalNAc 4-sulfate residue of chondroitin sulfate A and forms chondroitin sulfate E containing GlcA-GalNAc(4,6-SO(4)) repeating units. It also transfers sulfate to a unique non- reducing terminal sequence, GalNAc(4SO4)-GlcA(2SO4)-GalNAc(6SO4), to yield a highly sulfated structure similar to the structure found in thrombomodulin chondroitin sulfate. May also act as a B- cell receptor involved in BCR ligation-mediated early activation that mediate regulatory signals key to B-cell development and/or regulation of B-cell-specific RAG expression; however such results are unclear in vivo. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:11572857, ECO:0000269|PubMed:12874280}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Sulfotransfer 1| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |N-acetylgalactosamine 4-sulfate 6-O-sulfotransferase activity| |3-phosphoadenosine 5-phosphosulfate binding| |chondroitin sulfate biosynthetic process| |chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan biosynthetic process| |chondroitin sulfate metabolic process| |chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan metabolic process| |hexose biosynthetic process| |monosaccharide biosynthetic process| |proteoglycan biosynthetic process| |proteoglycan metabolic process| |glycosaminoglycan biosynthetic process| |mucopolysaccharide metabolic process| |aminoglycan biosynthetic process| |carbohydrate biosynthetic process| |glycosaminoglycan metabolic process| |hexose metabolic process| |aminoglycan metabolic process| |sulfur compound biosynthetic process| |monosaccharide metabolic process| |glycoprotein biosynthetic process| |sulfur compound metabolic process| |glycoprotein metabolic process| |carbohydrate metabolic process| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |Golgi membrane| |carbohydrate derivative biosynthetic process| |oxoacid metabolic process| |organic acid metabolic process| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |small molecule metabolic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |DABN 20μM R00 exp17|-1.99| |Etoposide 0.1μM R05 exp198|2.01| |Pyridostatin 4μM R05 exp240|2.41| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 3318 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 5.62 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='CHST15 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 5.62'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
