The encoded enzyme transfers sulfate from 3'phosphoadenosine 5'phospho-sulfate to the 6-hydroxyl group of N-acetylglucosamine on glycoproteins. This protein is localized to the Golgi and is involved in the modification of glycan structures on ligands of the lymphocyte homing receptor L-selectin. Alternate splicing in the 5' UTR results in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2009]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Sulfotransferase that utilizes 3'-phospho-5'-adenylyl sulfate (PAPS) as sulfonate donor to catalyze the transfer of sulfate to position 6 of non-reducing N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) residues within mucin-associated glycans that ultimately serve as SELL ligands. SELL ligands are present in high endothelial cells (HEVs) and play a central role in lymphocyte homing at sites of inflammation. Participates in biosynthesis of the SELL ligand sialyl 6-sulfo Lewis X on receptors SPN/CD43, GLYCAM1 and MADCAM1. Also involved in biosynthesis of SELL ligand recognized by MECA-79 antibody. Plays a central role in lymphocyte trafficking during chronic inflammation. Has a catalytic preference for core 2- branched mucin-type O-glycans. Can use GlcNAcbeta1-6[Galbeta1- 3]GalNAc-pNP (core 2), GlcNAcbeta1-6ManOMe and GlcNAcbeta1-2Man oligosaccharide structures as acceptors. Has also activity toward core 3 of GlcNAcbeta1-3GalNAc-pNP. Its substrate specificity may be influenced by its subcellular location. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:10330415}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Sulfotransfer 1| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |intrinsic component of Golgi membrane| |protein sulfation| |N-acetylglucosamine 6-O-sulfotransferase activity| |sulfation| |N-acetylglucosamine metabolic process| |glucosamine-containing compound metabolic process| |sulfotransferase activity| |amino sugar metabolic process| |O-glycan processing| |protein O-linked glycosylation| |trans-Golgi network| |macromolecule glycosylation| |protein glycosylation| |glycosylation| |glycoprotein biosynthetic process| |sulfur compound metabolic process| |glycoprotein metabolic process| |carbohydrate metabolic process| |inflammatory response| |Golgi membrane| |carbohydrate derivative biosynthetic process| |cell adhesion| |biological adhesion| |carbohydrate derivative metabolic process| |cell-cell signaling| |defense response| |organonitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |immune response| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |Sulforaphane 9μM R08 exp525|-1.83| |CB-5083 0.4μM R08 exp468|-1.79| |Chloramphenicol 20μM R00 exp13|1.83| |Arsenic trioxide 60μM R08 exp449|1.88| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 15965 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -4.6 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='CHST4 Expression in NALM6 Cells: -4.6'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
