The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This endoplasmic reticulum protein acts on retinoids, including all-trans-retinoic acid (RA), with both 4-hydroxylation and 18-hydroxylation activities. This enzyme regulates the cellular level of retinoic acid which is involved in regulation of gene expression in both embryonic and adult tissues. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene, which encode the distinct isoforms, have been reported. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Plays a key role in retinoic acid metabolism. Acts on retinoids, including all-trans-retinoic acid (RA) and its stereoisomer 9-cis-RA. Capable of both 4-hydroxylation and 18- hydroxylation. Responsible for generation of several hydroxylated forms of RA, including 4-OH-RA, 4-oxo-RA and 18-OH-RA. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:9228017, ECO:0000269|PubMed:9716180}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |p450| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |diterpenoid catabolic process| |retinoic acid catabolic process| |terpenoid catabolic process| |negative regulation of retinoic acid receptor signaling pathway| |fat-soluble vitamin catabolic process| |retinoic acid 4-hydroxylase activity| |isoprenoid catabolic process| |oxidoreductase activity, acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen, NAD(P)H as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen| |vitamin catabolic process| |regulation of retinoic acid receptor signaling pathway| |response to vitamin A| |retinoic acid binding| |retinoic acid metabolic process| |oxygen binding| |fat-soluble vitamin metabolic process| |response to vitamin| |retinoid metabolic process| |response to retinoic acid| |diterpenoid metabolic process| |monocarboxylic acid catabolic process| |terpenoid metabolic process| |cellular hormone metabolic process| |vitamin metabolic process| |xenobiotic metabolic process| |iron ion binding| |sterol metabolic process| |isoprenoid metabolic process| |heme binding| |cellular response to xenobiotic stimulus| |cellular lipid catabolic process| |hormone metabolic process| |response to nutrient| |steroid metabolic process| |organic acid catabolic process| |carboxylic acid catabolic process| |kidney development| |renal system development| |lipid catabolic process| |response to xenobiotic stimulus| |urogenital system development| |response to acid chemical| |small molecule catabolic process| |organic hydroxy compound metabolic process| |response to nutrient levels| |monocarboxylic acid metabolic process| |response to extracellular stimulus| |regulation of hormone levels| |response to lipid| |carboxylic acid metabolic process| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |cellular lipid metabolic process| |oxidation-reduction process| |oxoacid metabolic process| |organic acid metabolic process| |lipid metabolic process| |negative regulation of signal transduction| |negative regulation of cell communication| |negative regulation of signaling| |response to oxygen-containing compound| |negative regulation of response to stimulus| |small molecule metabolic process| |organic substance catabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp242|Radicicol 0.16μM R05 exp242]]|1.87| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 6817 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -1.85 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='CYP26A1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: -1.85'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
