The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and its expression is induced by phenobarbital. The enzyme is known to metabolize many xenobiotics, including the anticonvulsive drug mephenytoin, benzo(a)pyrene, 7-ethyoxycoumarin, and the anti-cancer drug taxol. This gene is located within a cluster of cytochrome P450 genes on chromosome 10q24. Several transcript variants encoding a few different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2010]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Cytochromes P450 are a group of heme-thiolate monooxygenases. In liver microsomes, this enzyme is involved in an NADPH-dependent electron transport pathway. It oxidizes a variety of structurally unrelated compounds, including steroids, fatty acids, and xenobiotics. In the epoxidation of arachidonic acid it generates only 14,15- and 11,12-cis-epoxyeicosatrienoic acids. It is the principal enzyme responsible for the metabolism the anti- cancer drug paclitaxel (taxol). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:26427316, ECO:0000269|PubMed:7574697}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |p450| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |caffeine oxidase activity| |lipid hydroxylation| |estrogen 16-alpha-hydroxylase activity| |retinoic acid 4-hydroxylase activity| |omega-hydroxylase P450 pathway| |arachidonic acid epoxygenase activity| |oxidative demethylation| |epoxygenase P450 pathway| |exogenous drug catabolic process| |oxidoreductase activity, acting on paired donors, with incorporation or reduction of molecular oxygen, reduced flavin or flavoprotein as one donor, and incorporation of one atom of oxygen| |long-chain fatty acid biosynthetic process| |retinoic acid metabolic process| |estrogen metabolic process| |monooxygenase activity| |steroid hydroxylase activity| |icosanoid biosynthetic process| |arachidonic acid metabolic process| |demethylation| |fatty acid derivative biosynthetic process| |retinoid metabolic process| |unsaturated fatty acid metabolic process| |diterpenoid metabolic process| |icosanoid metabolic process| |long-chain fatty acid metabolic process| |fatty acid biosynthetic process| |terpenoid metabolic process| |cellular hormone metabolic process| |xenobiotic metabolic process| |iron ion binding| |isoprenoid metabolic process| |heme binding| |drug catabolic process| |fatty acid derivative metabolic process| |monocarboxylic acid biosynthetic process| |cellular response to xenobiotic stimulus| |hormone metabolic process| |lipid modification| |steroid metabolic process| |response to xenobiotic stimulus| |carboxylic acid biosynthetic process| |organic acid biosynthetic process| |fatty acid metabolic process| |drug metabolic process| |monocarboxylic acid metabolic process| |regulation of hormone levels| |lipid biosynthetic process| |small molecule biosynthetic process| |intracellular membrane-bounded organelle| |carboxylic acid metabolic process| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |cellular lipid metabolic process| |oxidation-reduction process| |oxoacid metabolic process| |response to drug| |organic acid metabolic process| |lipid metabolic process| |small molecule metabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 9756 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -2.08 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='CYP2C8 Expression in NALM6 Cells: -2.08'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
