The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. The encoded protein metabolizes drugs as well as the steroid hormones testosterone and progesterone. This gene is part of a cluster of cytochrome P450 genes on chromosome 7q21.1. Two pseudogenes of this gene have been identified within this cluster on chromosome 7. Expression of this gene is widely variable among populations, and a single nucleotide polymorphism that affects transcript splicing has been associated with susceptibility to hypertensions. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Apr 2014]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Cytochromes P450 are a group of heme-thiolate monooxygenases. In liver microsomes, this enzyme is involved in an NADPH-dependent electron transport pathway. It oxidizes a variety of structurally unrelated compounds, including steroids, fatty acids, and xenobiotics. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |p450| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |alkaloid catabolic process| |testosterone 6-beta-hydroxylase activity| |oxidoreductase activity, acting on CH or CH2 groups| |lipid hydroxylation| |alkaloid metabolic process| |retinoic acid 4-hydroxylase activity| |estrogen 16-alpha-hydroxylase activity| |aromatase activity| |oxidative demethylation| |retinoic acid metabolic process| |monooxygenase activity| |estrogen metabolic process| |oxygen binding| |steroid hydroxylase activity| |demethylation| |retinoid metabolic process| |diterpenoid metabolic process| |oxidoreductase activity| |terpenoid metabolic process| |cellular hormone metabolic process| |xenobiotic metabolic process| |iron ion binding| |isoprenoid metabolic process| |heme binding| |drug catabolic process| |cellular response to xenobiotic stimulus| |hormone metabolic process| |lipid modification| |steroid metabolic process| |response to xenobiotic stimulus| |cellular nitrogen compound catabolic process| |drug metabolic process| |monocarboxylic acid metabolic process| |regulation of hormone levels| |intracellular membrane-bounded organelle| |carboxylic acid metabolic process| |endoplasmic reticulum membrane| |cellular lipid metabolic process| |oxidation-reduction process| |oxoacid metabolic process| |organic acid metabolic process| |organonitrogen compound catabolic process| |lipid metabolic process| |small molecule metabolic process| |organic substance catabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |WYE-354 6μM R02 exp90|-1.76| |Deguelin 0.05μM R02 exp69|-1.7| |Docetaxel 0.002μM R01 exp45|1.73| |Etoposide 1μM R00 exp19|1.75| |Lead acetate 990μM R08 exp496|2.13| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 13123 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 4.37 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='CYP3A5 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 4.37'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
