The protein includes an N-terminal transcriptional activation domain and a C-terminal RNA-binding domain. Chromosomal translocations between this gene and various genes encoding transcription factors result in the production of chimeric proteins that are involved in tumorigenesis. These chimeric proteins usually consist of the N-terminal transcriptional activation domain of this protein fused to the C-terminal DNA-binding domain of the transcription factor protein. Mutations in this gene, specifically a t(11;22)(q24;q12) translocation, are known to cause Ewing sarcoma as well as neuroectodermal and various other tumors. Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 1 and 14. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2009]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Might normally function as a transcriptional repressor. EWS-fusion-proteins (EFPS) may play a role in the tumorigenic process. They may disturb gene expression by mimicking, or interfering with the normal function of CTD-POLII within the transcription initiation complex. They may also contribute to an aberrant activation of the fusion protein target genes. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |zf-RanBP| |RRM 1| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |calmodulin binding| |nucleolus| |identical protein binding| |RNA binding| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |Dynasore 10μM R04 exp180|-1.82| |Torin1 0.08μM R02 exp82|-1.75| |Taxol 0.004μM R03 exp103|1.78| |UM0011500 10μM R05 exp246|2.02| |I-BRD9 4μM R07 exp365|2.14| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 367/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|15/28| |blood|11/28| |bone|20/26| |breast|21/33| |central nervous system|28/56| |cervix|1/4| |colorectal|7/17| |esophagus|1/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|10/16| |kidney|14/21| |liver|6/20| |lung|34/75| |lymphocyte|9/16| |ovary|13/26| |pancreas|14/24| |peripheral nervous system|6/16| |plasma cell|7/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|8/24| |soft tissue|7/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|6/22| |urinary tract|13/29| |uterus|4/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 2180 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 9.45 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='EWSR1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 9.45'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
