The members of this family are ubiquitously expressed and are generally most abundant in mitochondria-enriched tissues such as heart, skeletal muscle and brown-adipose tissue. Some members of this protein family may play a role in apoptosis. The protein encoded by this gene interacts with components of the mitochondrial respiratory and translation networks. A pseudogene of this gene is also present on chromosome 5. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2013]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Required for normal mitochondrial respiration (PubMed:20869947). Increases steady-state levels and half-lives of a subset of mature mitochondrial mRNAs MT-ND2, MT-ND3, MT-CYTB, MT-CO2, and MT-ATP8/6. Promotes MT-CO1 mRNA translation and increases mitochondrial complex IV assembly and activity (PubMed:27789713). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:20869947, ECO:0000269|PubMed:27789713}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |FAST 2| |RAP| |FAST 1| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |regulation of mitochondrial mRNA stability| |positive regulation of mitochondrial translation| |mitochondrial respiratory chain complex IV assembly| |respiratory chain complex IV assembly| |regulation of mitochondrial translation| |regulation of mitochondrial gene expression| |cytochrome complex assembly| |mitochondrial respiratory chain complex assembly| |positive regulation of translation| |positive regulation of cellular amide metabolic process| |cellular respiration| |regulation of mRNA stability| |regulation of RNA stability| |regulation of mRNA catabolic process| |energy derivation by oxidation of organic compounds| |protein kinase activity| |regulation of mRNA metabolic process| |regulation of translation| |regulation of cellular amide metabolic process| |generation of precursor metabolites and energy| |mitochondrion organization| |posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression| |regulation of cellular catabolic process| |cellular protein-containing complex assembly| |oxidation-reduction process| |protein phosphorylation| |regulation of catabolic process| |mitochondrion| |phosphorylation| |RNA binding| |protein-containing complex assembly| |positive regulation of cellular protein metabolic process| |positive regulation of protein metabolic process| |protein-containing complex subunit organization| |positive regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of gene expression| |positive regulation of biosynthetic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |LLY-283 2.6μM R06 exp290|1.77| |Vemurafenib 6.6μM R02 exp89|1.87| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> ^Gene^Correlation^ |COA6|0.426| </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 7069 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 5.03 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='FASTKD3 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 5.03'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
