It promotes adhesion of endothelial cells through interaction of integrins and the RGD motif. It is prominently expressed in developing arteries but less so in adult vessels. However, its expression is reinduced in balloon-injured vessels and atherosclerotic lesions, notably in intimal vascular smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells. Therefore, the protein encoded by this gene may play a role in vascular development and remodeling. Defects in this gene are a cause of autosomal dominant cutis laxa, autosomal recessive cutis laxa type I (CL type I), and age-related macular degeneration type 3 (ARMD3). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Essential for elastic fiber formation, is involved in the assembly of continuous elastin (ELN) polymer and promotes the interaction of microfibrils and ELN (PubMed:18185537). Stabilizes and organizes elastic fibers in the skin, lung and vasculature (By similarity). Promotes adhesion of endothelial cells through interaction of integrins and the RGD motif. Vascular ligand for integrin receptors which may play a role in vascular development and remodeling (PubMed:10428823). May act as an adapter that mediates the interaction between FBN1 and ELN (PubMed:17255108). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q9WVH9, ECO:0000269|PubMed:10428823, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17255108, ECO:0000269|PubMed:18185537}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |EGF CA| |EGF 3| |cEGF| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |elastic fiber| |elastic fiber assembly| |extracellular matrix constituent conferring elasticity| |regulation of removal of superoxide radicals| |extracellular matrix assembly| |protein localization to cell surface| |regulation of superoxide metabolic process| |regulation of response to reactive oxygen species| |regulation of cellular response to oxidative stress| |regulation of response to oxidative stress| |cell-matrix adhesion| |integrin binding| |regulation of reactive oxygen species metabolic process| |cell-substrate adhesion| |protein C-terminus binding| |extracellular matrix| |extracellular matrix organization| |collagen-containing extracellular matrix| |extracellular structure organization| |regulation of cell growth| |supramolecular fiber organization| |regulation of growth| |calcium ion binding| |regulation of cellular response to stress| |protein homodimerization activity| |cell adhesion| |biological adhesion| |secretion| |regulation of response to stress| |cellular protein localization| |extracellular space| |cellular macromolecule localization| |extracellular region| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp433|LJH685 50μM R08 exp433]]|-1.83| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 13618 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -1.56 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='FBLN5 Expression in NALM6 Cells: -1.56'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
