FGF family members possess broad mitogenic and cell survival activities, and are involved in a variety of biological processes, including embryonic development, cell growth, morphogenesis, tissue repair, tumor growth and invasion. This gene was identified as an oncogene, which confers transforming potential when transfected into mammalian cells. Targeted disruption of the homolog of this gene in mouse resulted in the phenotype of abnormally long hair, which suggested a function as an inhibitor of hair elongation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Plays an important role in the regulation of cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Required for normal regulation of the hair growth cycle. Functions as an inhibitor of hair elongation by promoting progression from anagen, the growth phase of the hair follicle, into catagen the apoptosis-induced regression phase (By similarity). {ECO:0000250|UniProtKB:Q20FD0, ECO:0000269|PubMed:8663044}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |FGF| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |signal transduction involved in regulation of gene expression| |fibroblast growth factor receptor binding| |fibroblast growth factor receptor signaling pathway| |positive regulation of cell division| |cellular response to fibroblast growth factor stimulus| |response to fibroblast growth factor| |growth factor activity| |positive regulation of protein kinase B signaling| |regulation of cell division| |glial cell differentiation| |gliogenesis| |regulation of protein kinase B signaling| |MAPK cascade| |signal transduction by protein phosphorylation| |cellular response to growth factor stimulus| |transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase signaling pathway| |response to growth factor| |enzyme linked receptor protein signaling pathway| |positive regulation of cell population proliferation| |protein phosphorylation| |positive regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |cell-cell signaling| |cellular response to endogenous stimulus| |phosphorylation| |response to endogenous stimulus| |extracellular space| |regulation of cell population proliferation| |neurogenesis| |positive regulation of signal transduction| |intracellular signal transduction| |positive regulation of cell communication| |positive regulation of signaling| |regulation of intracellular signal transduction| |extracellular region| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp54|Taxol 0.002μM R01 exp54]]|1.82| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> ^Gene^Correlation^ |[[:human genes:n:nbpf1|NBPF1]]|0.436| </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 10747 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 2.43 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='FGF5 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 2.43'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
