MaxiK channels can be formed by 2 subunits: the pore-forming alpha subunit and the product of this gene, the modulatory beta subunit. Intracellular calcium regulates the physical association between the alpha and beta subunits. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Regulatory subunit of the calcium activated potassium KCNMA1 (maxiK) channel. Modulates the calcium sensitivity and gating kinetics of KCNMA1, thereby contributing to KCNMA1 channel diversity. Increases the apparent Ca(2+)/voltage sensitivity of the KCNMA1 channel. It also modifies KCNMA1 channel kinetics and alters its pharmacological properties. It slows down the activation and the deactivation kinetics of the channel. Acts as a negative regulator of smooth muscle contraction by enhancing the calcium sensitivity to KCNMA1. Its presence is also a requirement for internal binding of the KCNMA1 channel opener dehydrosoyasaponin I (DHS-1) triterpene glycoside and for external binding of the agonist hormone 17-beta-estradiol (E2). Increases the binding activity of charybdotoxin (CTX) toxin to KCNMA1 peptide blocker by increasing the CTX association rate and decreasing the dissociation rate. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |CaKB| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |cellular response to bile acid| |response to bile acid| |detection of calcium ion| |calcium-activated potassium channel activity| |cellular response to ethanol| |positive regulation of potassium ion transmembrane transport| |potassium channel regulator activity| |positive regulation of potassium ion transport| |positive regulation of blood vessel diameter| |regulation of potassium ion transmembrane transport| |voltage-gated potassium channel complex| |cellular response to alcohol| |regulation of potassium ion transport| |cellular response to antibiotic| |response to ethanol| |regulation of tube diameter| |regulation of blood vessel diameter| |regulation of tube size| |positive regulation of cation transmembrane transport| |response to calcium ion| |positive regulation of ion transmembrane transport| |potassium ion transmembrane transport| |potassium ion transport| |vascular process in circulatory system| |cellular response to hypoxia| |cellular response to decreased oxygen levels| |positive regulation of transmembrane transport| |cellular response to acid chemical| |cellular response to toxic substance| |cellular response to oxygen levels| |response to alcohol| |positive regulation of ion transport| |aging| |response to antibiotic| |regulation of cation transmembrane transport| |response to hypoxia| |response to acid chemical| |response to decreased oxygen levels| |response to metal ion| |response to oxygen levels| |regulation of metal ion transport| |blood circulation| |circulatory system process| |monovalent inorganic cation transport| |cellular response to drug| |anterograde trans-synaptic signaling| |chemical synaptic transmission| |trans-synaptic signaling| |synaptic signaling| |regulation of ion transmembrane transport| |response to toxic substance| |regulation of anatomical structure size| |cellular response to lipid| |detection of chemical stimulus| |response to inorganic substance| |cellular response to organic cyclic compound| |inorganic cation transmembrane transport| |regulation of transmembrane transport| |cation transmembrane transport| |metal ion transport| |inorganic ion transmembrane transport| |detection of stimulus| |regulation of ion transport| |cation transport| |response to lipid| |response to organic cyclic compound| |ion transmembrane transport| |positive regulation of transport| |response to drug| |cellular response to oxygen-containing compound| |cell-cell signaling| |response to abiotic stimulus| |transmembrane transport| |ion transport| |response to oxygen-containing compound| |cellular response to stress| |regulation of transport| |system process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 8540 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 3.49 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='KCNMB1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 3.49'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
