Binds specifically and directly to substrates containing either a simple or bipartite NLS motif. Docking of the importin/substrate complex to the nuclear pore complex (NPC) is mediated by KPNB1 through binding to nucleoporin FxFG repeats and the complex is subsequently translocated through the pore by an energy requiring, Ran- dependent mechanism. At the nucleoplasmic side of the NPC, Ran binds to importin-beta and the three components separate and importin-alpha and -beta are re-exported from the nucleus to the cytoplasm where GTP hydrolysis releases Ran from importin. The directionality of nuclear import is thought to be conferred by an asymmetric distribution of the GTP- and GDP-bound forms of Ran between the cytoplasm and nucleus. In vitro, mediates the nuclear import of human cytomegalovirus UL84 by recognizing a non- classical NLS. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |IBB| |Arm| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |postsynapse to nucleus signaling pathway| |apoptotic DNA fragmentation| |NLS-bearing protein import into nucleus| |modulation by virus of host cellular process| |nuclear import signal receptor activity| |DNA catabolic process, endonucleolytic| |apoptotic nuclear changes| |nuclear localization sequence binding| |modulation by symbiont of host cellular process| |cellular component disassembly involved in execution phase of apoptosis| |DNA catabolic process| |modulation by virus of host morphology or physiology| |postsynaptic signal transduction| |modification by symbiont of host morphology or physiology| |execution phase of apoptosis| |intracellular transport of virus| |host cell| |transport of virus| |multi-organism transport| |multi-organism localization| |nuclear pore| |protein import into nucleus| |regulation of DNA recombination| |modification of morphology or physiology of other organism involved in symbiotic interaction| |import into nucleus| |protein import| |modification of morphology or physiology of other organism| |interaction with host| |protein localization to nucleus| |viral life cycle| |postsynaptic density| |nucleocytoplasmic transport| |nuclear transport| |nucleic acid phosphodiester bond hydrolysis| |glutamatergic synapse| |regulation of DNA metabolic process| |nucleobase-containing compound catabolic process| |cellular component disassembly| |dendrite| |establishment of protein localization to organelle| |heterocycle catabolic process| |cellular nitrogen compound catabolic process| |aromatic compound catabolic process| |synaptic signaling| |organic cyclic compound catabolic process| |viral process| |protein localization to organelle| |DNA metabolic process| |symbiotic process| |interspecies interaction between organisms| |cellular macromolecule catabolic process| |apoptotic process| |intracellular protein transport| |macromolecule catabolic process| |programmed cell death| |cell death| |cell-cell signaling| |protein transport| |intracellular transport| |peptide transport| |amide transport| |cellular protein localization| |cellular macromolecule localization| |establishment of protein localization| |organic substance catabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| |establishment of localization in cell| |nitrogen compound transport| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |PFI-3 10μM R03 exp144|-1.81| |NFN1 0.4μM R03 exp99|1.78| |NN-Diethyl-meta-toluamide 500μM R08 exp438|1.95| |Trimetrexate 0.03μM R08 exp535|1.96| |Epothilone-D 0.004 to 0.006μM on day4 R05 exp232|2.22| |Dynasore 10μM R04 exp180|2.7| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 16129 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 6.64 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='KPNA1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 6.64'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
