This protein combines with a high-affinity converter subunit, gp130, to form a receptor complex that mediates the action of the leukemia inhibitory factor, a polyfunctional cytokine that is involved in cellular differentiation, proliferation and survival in the adult and the embryo. Mutations in this gene cause Schwartz-Jampel syndrome type 2, a disease belonging to the group of the bent-bone dysplasias. A translocation that involves the promoter of this gene, t(5;8)(p13;q12) with the pleiomorphic adenoma gene 1, is associated with salivary gland pleiomorphic adenoma, a common type of benign epithelial tumor of the salivary gland. Multiple splice variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Signal-transducing molecule. May have a common pathway with IL6ST. The soluble form inhibits the biological activity of LIF by blocking its binding to receptors on target cells. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |fn3| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |leukemia inhibitory factor receptor activity| |oncostatin-M receptor activity| |oncostatin-M-mediated signaling pathway| |leukemia inhibitory factor signaling pathway| |ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor binding| |ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor activity| |ciliary neurotrophic factor-mediated signaling pathway| |growth factor binding| |cytokine binding| |cytokine receptor activity| |regulation of cytokine-mediated signaling pathway| |regulation of response to cytokine stimulus| |receptor complex| |external side of plasma membrane| |cytokine-mediated signaling pathway| |enzyme linked receptor protein signaling pathway| |positive regulation of cell population proliferation| |cellular response to cytokine stimulus| |response to cytokine| |integral component of plasma membrane| |regulation of cell population proliferation| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |Rucaparib 6.5μM R08 exp520|-2.15| |GSK-J5 1.5μM R08 exp484|-2.09| |Amiloride 100μM R08 exp447|-1.78| |Thioridazine 5μM R08 exp530|-1.77| |Menadione 5μM R06 exp292|1.82| |ABT-702 5μM plus Deferoxamine 11μM R07 exp321|1.9| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 1/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 17908 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -0.54 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='LIFR Expression in NALM6 Cells: -0.54'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
