The encoded protein plays a role in DNA repair and homologous recombination. This gene shares its 5' exons with some transcripts from overlapping GeneID: 79441, which encodes an augmentin-like protein complex subunit. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2014]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: DNA polymerase with very low fidelity that catalyzes considerable misincorporation by inserting dTTP opposite a G template, and dGTP opposite a T template (PubMed:16787914, PubMed:17118716). Is the least accurate of the DNA polymerase A family (i.e. POLG, POLN and POLQ) (PubMed:17118716). Can perform accurate translesion DNA synthesis (TLS) past a 5S-thymine glycol. Can perform efficient strand displacement past a nick or a gap and gives rise to an amount of product similar to that on non-damaged template. Has no exonuclease activity (PubMed:16787914). Error- prone DNA polymerase that preferentially misincorporates dT regardless of template sequence (PubMed:25775266). May play a role in TLS during interstrand cross-link (ICL) repair (PubMed:19908865). May be involved in TLS when genomic replication is blocked by extremely large major groove DNA lesions. May function in the bypass of some DNA-protein and DNA-DNA cross- links. May have a role in cellular tolerance to DNA cross-linking agents (PubMed:20102227). Involved in the repair of DNA cross- links and double-strand break (DSB) resistance. Participates in FANCD2-mediated repair. Forms a complex with HELQ helicase that participates in homologous recombination (HR) repair and is essential for cellular protection against DNA cross-links (PubMed:19995904). {ECO:0000269|PubMed:16787914, ECO:0000269|PubMed:17118716, ECO:0000269|PubMed:19908865, ECO:0000269|PubMed:19995904, ECO:0000269|PubMed:20102227, ECO:0000269|PubMed:25775266}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |DNA pol A| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |DNA-directed DNA polymerase activity| |cyclin binding| |translesion synthesis| |DNA synthesis involved in DNA repair| |interstrand cross-link repair| |postreplication repair| |double-strand break repair via homologous recombination| |recombinational repair| |DNA biosynthetic process| |DNA-dependent DNA replication| |double-strand break repair| |DNA replication| |DNA recombination| |DNA repair| |DNA metabolic process| |cellular response to DNA damage stimulus| |nucleolus| |nucleobase-containing compound biosynthetic process| |heterocycle biosynthetic process| |aromatic compound biosynthetic process| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |DNA binding| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |cellular response to stress| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 16133 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 3.39 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='POLN Expression in NALM6 Cells: 3.39'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:36by 127.0.0.1
