The encoded protein may act as a transcriptional regulator after forming a protein complex with other proteins. Mutations in this gene have been associated with X-linked cognitive disability with growth hormone deficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Transcription factor required during the formation of the hypothalamo-pituitary axis. May function as a switch in neuronal development. Keeps neural cells undifferentiated by counteracting the activity of proneural proteins and suppresses neuronal differentiation. Required also within the pharyngeal epithelia for craniofacial morphogenesis. Controls a genetic switch in male development. Is necessary for initiating male sex determination by directing the development of supporting cell precursors (pre-Sertoli cells) as Sertoli rather than granulosa cells (By similarity). {ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:21183788}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |HMG box| |SOXp| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |hypothalamus development| |sex determination| |nuclear transcription factor complex| |RNA polymerase II core promoter sequence-specific DNA binding| |pituitary gland development| |face development| |diencephalon development| |limbic system development| |endocrine system development| |negative regulation of neuron differentiation| |transcription corepressor activity| |negative regulation of neurogenesis| |negative regulation of nervous system development| |negative regulation of cell development| |forebrain development| |gland development| |sensory organ development| |regulation of neuron differentiation| |developmental process involved in reproduction| |negative regulation of cell differentiation| |brain development| |head development| |regulation of neurogenesis| |regulation of nervous system development| |regulation of cell development| |negative regulation of developmental process| |central nervous system development| |neuron differentiation| |negative regulation of multicellular organismal process| |negative regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |negative regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of RNA metabolic process| |reproductive process| |reproduction| |negative regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |DNA binding| |negative regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |negative regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |generation of neurons| |negative regulation of biosynthetic process| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |neurogenesis| |regulation of cell differentiation| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp111|R-DABN 8μM R03 exp111]]|-1.8| |[[:results:exp454|Bafilomycin-A1 0.009μM R08 exp454]]|1.73| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/694 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/26| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/30| |central nervous system|0/49| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/11| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/14| |kidney|0/18| |liver|0/19| |lung|0/72| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/25| |pancreas|0/22| |peripheral nervous system|0/15| |plasma cell|0/12| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/20| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/28| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 9757 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -5.28 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='SOX3 Expression in NALM6 Cells: -5.28'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:37by 127.0.0.1
