The encoded protein regulates erythroid gene expression, plays a role in the transcriptional switch of globin gene promoters, and it activates many other cellular and viral gene promoters. The gene product interacts with certain inflammatory response factors, and polymorphisms of this gene may be involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Binds a variety of cellular and viral promoters including fibrinogen, alpha-globin, SV40 and HIV-1 promoters. Activation of the alpha-globin promoter in erythroid cells is via synergistic interaction with UBP1 (By similarity). Functions as part of the SSP (stage selector protein) complex. Facilitates the interaction of the gamma-globin genes with enhancer elements contained in the locus control region in fetal erythroid cells. Interacts by binding to the stage selector element (SSE) in the proximal gamma-globin promoter. {ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:10455131, ECO:0000269|PubMed:1732747, ECO:0000269|PubMed:8035790, ECO:0000269|PubMed:8157699}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |CP2| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |mRNA transcription by RNA polymerase II| |mRNA transcription| |proximal promoter sequence-specific DNA binding| |transcription factor binding| |sequence-specific DNA binding| |DNA-binding transcription activator activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |transcription by RNA polymerase II| |RNA polymerase II proximal promoter sequence-specific DNA binding| |protein-containing complex| |transcription, DNA-templated| |nucleic acid-templated transcription| |RNA biosynthetic process| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity| |mRNA metabolic process| |nucleobase-containing compound biosynthetic process| |heterocycle biosynthetic process| |aromatic compound biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II| |organic cyclic compound biosynthetic process| |DNA binding| |positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated| |DNA-binding transcription factor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific| |cellular nitrogen compound biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of nucleic acid-templated transcription| |positive regulation of RNA biosynthetic process| |RNA metabolic process| |cellular macromolecule biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of RNA metabolic process| |macromolecule biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of nucleobase-containing compound metabolic process| |positive regulation of macromolecule biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of cellular biosynthetic process| |positive regulation of gene expression| |gene expression| |positive regulation of biosynthetic process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |Chlorpromazine 10μM R07 exp344|1.7| |UM0125461 0.74μM R02 exp84|1.7| |Hippuristanol 0.12μM R08 exp489 no dilution day6|1.71| |CR131-b 0.005μM R08 exp474|1.73| |DABN 2μM R00 exp16|1.74| |Ethanol 0.01 R05 exp234|1.76| |2-Methoxyestradiol 0.55 to 1μM on day4 R07 exp312|1.94| |Radicicol 0.16μM R05 exp242|1.97| |RO-3307 4.7μM R02 exp80|2.33| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 14821 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 5.65 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='TFCP2 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 5.65'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:37by 127.0.0.1
