The encoded protein is a calcium permeable cation channel that is expressed in melanocytes and may play a role in melanin synthesis. Specific mutations in this gene are the cause autosomal recessive complete congenital stationary night blindness-1C. The expression of this protein is inversely correlated with melanoma aggressiveness and as such it is used as a prognostic marker for melanoma metastasis. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2011]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Cation channel essential for the depolarizing photoresponse of retinal ON bipolar cells. It is part of the GRM6 signaling cascade. May play a role in metastasis suppression (By similarity). May act as a spontaneously active, calcium-permeable plasma membrane channel. {ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:11535825, ECO:0000269|PubMed:19878917, ECO:0000269|PubMed:19896109}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Ion trans| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |new growing cell tip| |retinal rod cell development| |G protein-coupled glutamate receptor signaling pathway| |eye photoreceptor cell development| |eye photoreceptor cell differentiation| |glutamate receptor signaling pathway| |photoreceptor cell development| |calcium channel activity| |photoreceptor cell differentiation| |calcium ion transport into cytosol| |cytosolic calcium ion transport| |cellular response to light stimulus| |eye morphogenesis| |protein tetramerization| |cellular response to radiation| |calcium ion transmembrane transport| |visual perception| |sensory perception of light stimulus| |calcium ion transport| |sensory organ morphogenesis| |positive regulation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration| |divalent metal ion transport| |divalent inorganic cation transport| |response to light stimulus| |cellular response to environmental stimulus| |cellular response to abiotic stimulus| |regulation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration| |eye development| |visual system development| |sensory system development| |cellular calcium ion homeostasis| |response to radiation| |calcium ion homeostasis| |cellular divalent inorganic cation homeostasis| |divalent inorganic cation homeostasis| |protein complex oligomerization| |sensory organ development| |cellular metal ion homeostasis| |inorganic cation transmembrane transport| |cation transmembrane transport| |metal ion homeostasis| |cellular cation homeostasis| |metal ion transport| |cellular ion homeostasis| |inorganic ion transmembrane transport| |cation homeostasis| |inorganic ion homeostasis| |cellular chemical homeostasis| |ion homeostasis| |neuron development| |cation transport| |cellular homeostasis| |ion transmembrane transport| |animal organ morphogenesis| |sensory perception| |neuron differentiation| |chemical homeostasis| |response to abiotic stimulus| |transmembrane transport| |G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway| |ion transport| |nervous system process| |integral component of plasma membrane| |generation of neurons| |protein-containing complex assembly| |neurogenesis| |homeostatic process| |cell development| |establishment of localization in cell| |protein-containing complex subunit organization| |system process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |[[:results:exp472|CI-1040 9.5μM R08 exp472]]|-1.8| |[[:results:exp481|Ethambutol 25μM R08 exp481]]|-1.77| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 7952 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 0.86 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='TRPM1 Expression in NALM6 Cells: 0.86'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:37by 127.0.0.1
