Monovalent- specific, non-selective cation channel that mediates the transport of Na(+), K(+) and Cs(+) ions equally well. Activated directly by increases in intracellular Ca(2+), but is impermeable to it. Gating is voltage-dependent and displays rapid activation and deactivation kinetics upon channel stimulation even during sustained elevations in Ca(2+). Also activated by a fast intracellular Ca(2+) increase in response to inositol 1,4,5- triphosphate-producing receptor agonists. The channel is blocked by extracellular acidification. External acidification has 2 effects, a fast reversible block of the current and a slower irreversible enhancement of current inactivation. Is a highly temperature-sensitive, heat activated channel showing a steep increase of inward currents at temperatures between 15 and 35 degrees Celsius. Heat activation is due to a shift of the voltage- dependent activation curve to negative potentials. Activated by arachidonic acid in vitro. May be involved in perception of bitter, sweet and umami tastes. May also be involved in sensing semiochemicals. {ECO:0000269|PubMed:14634208}. <button type='default' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> No Pfam Domain information is available for this gene. </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |sodium channel activity| |calcium activated cation channel activity| |ion channel activity| |potassium channel activity| |voltage-gated ion channel activity| |sensory perception of taste| |sodium ion transmembrane transport| |sodium ion transport| |potassium ion transmembrane transport| |potassium ion transport| |calcium ion transmembrane transport| |calcium ion transport| |divalent metal ion transport| |divalent inorganic cation transport| |neuronal cell body| |monovalent inorganic cation transport| |dendrite| |regulation of ion transmembrane transport| |sensory perception of chemical stimulus| |inorganic cation transmembrane transport| |regulation of transmembrane transport| |cation transmembrane transport| |metal ion transport| |inorganic ion transmembrane transport| |regulation of ion transport| |cation transport| |ion transmembrane transport| |sensory perception| |transmembrane transport| |ion transport| |nervous system process| |regulation of transport| |system process| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> ^Screen^Score^ |Campthothecin 0.001μM R06 exp270|-1.83| |Glyphosate 1000μM R06 exp283|-1.7| |Hinokiflavone 12μM R08 exp487|1.7| </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 4537 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: -2.35 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='TRPM5 Expression in NALM6 Cells: -2.35'> </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:37by 127.0.0.1
