The encoded protein is localized to the mitochondria and catalyzes the conversion of thiosulfate and cyanide to thiocyanate and sulfite. In addition, the protein interacts with 5S ribosomal RNA and facilitates its import into the mitochondria. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2012]. * **<color #00a2e8>UniProt Summary</color>**: Formation of iron-sulfur complexes, cyanide detoxification or modification of sulfur-containing enzymes. Other thiol compounds, besides cyanide, can act as sulfur ion acceptors. Also has weak mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (MST) activity (By similarity). Together with MRPL18, acts as a mitochondrial import factor for the cytosolic 5S rRNA. Only the nascent unfolded cytoplasmic form is able to bind to the 5S rRNA. {ECO:0000250, ECO:0000269|PubMed:20663881, ECO:0000269|PubMed:21685364}. <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='Pfam_Domains'>Pfam Domains</button> <button type='primary' size='sm' modal='GO_terms'>GO Terms</button> <modal id='Pfam_Domains' size='lg' title='Pfam Domains'> |Rhodanese| </modal> <modal id='GO_terms' size='lg' title='GO Terms'> |cyanate catabolic process| |cyanate metabolic process| |rRNA import into mitochondrion| |thiosulfate sulfurtransferase activity| |transsulfuration| |homoserine metabolic process| |RNA import into mitochondrion| |rRNA transport| |cysteine metabolic process| |5S rRNA binding| |homocysteine metabolic process| |sulfur amino acid catabolic process| |sulfur amino acid metabolic process| |serine family amino acid metabolic process| |sulfur compound catabolic process| |mitochondrial transmembrane transport| |cellular amino acid catabolic process| |RNA transport| |nucleic acid transport| |establishment of RNA localization| |alpha-amino acid metabolic process| |mitochondrial transport| |RNA localization| |nucleobase-containing compound transport| |carboxylic acid catabolic process| |organic acid catabolic process| |cellular amino acid metabolic process| |sulfur compound metabolic process| |mitochondrial matrix| |cellular nitrogen compound catabolic process| |small molecule catabolic process| |epithelial cell differentiation| |carboxylic acid metabolic process| |oxoacid metabolic process| |organic acid metabolic process| |organonitrogen compound catabolic process| |epithelium development| |mitochondrion| |transmembrane transport| |extracellular space| |small molecule metabolic process| |tissue development| |organic substance catabolic process| |cellular catabolic process| |nitrogen compound transport| </modal> \\ === CRISPR Data === <button type='default' size='small' modal='Compound_Hit'>Compound Hit</button> <button type='default' size='small' modal='Most_Correlated_Genes'>Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics</button> <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Essential_Avana'>Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)</button> <modal id='Compound_Hit' size='lg' title='Compound Hit'> No hits were found. </modal> <modal id='Most_Correlated_Genes' size='lg' title='Most Correlated Genes in Chemogenomics'> No correlation found to any other genes in chemogenomics. </modal> <modal id='Essential_Avana' size='lg' title='Tissues where Essential in the Avana Dataset (DepMap 20Q1)'> Global Fraction of Cell Lines Where Essential: 0/739 ^Tissue^Fraction Of Cell Lines Where Essential^ |1290807.0|0/1| |909776.0|0/1| |bile duct|0/28| |blood|0/28| |bone|0/26| |breast|0/33| |central nervous system|0/56| |cervix|0/4| |colorectal|0/17| |esophagus|0/13| |fibroblast|0/1| |gastric|0/16| |kidney|0/21| |liver|0/20| |lung|0/75| |lymphocyte|0/16| |ovary|0/26| |pancreas|0/24| |peripheral nervous system|0/16| |plasma cell|0/15| |prostate|0/1| |skin|0/24| |soft tissue|0/9| |thyroid|0/2| |upper aerodigestive|0/22| |urinary tract|0/29| |uterus|0/5| </modal> == Essentiality in NALM6 == * **<color #00a2e8>Essentiality Rank</color>**: 12637 * **<color #00a2e8>Expression level (log2 read counts)</color>**: 3.95 <button type='primary' size='small' modal='Dist_expr'>Expression Distribution</button> <modal id='Dist_expr' size='lg' title='TST Expression in NALM6 Cells: 3.95'> {{:chemogenomics:nalm6 dist.png?nolink |}} </modal> Last modified: 2026/01/07 22:37by 127.0.0.1
